Any avid dayhikers/overnighters?

I used to hike all the time when I was active in Scouting. I really want to get back into it. Gonna start doing some day trips once it gets a bit warmer out.

Nah I'm fine in the a/c as it is. Hell I sweat enough without even trying. I'll just stick to the treadmill.

I love camping.

Haven't been on a true backpacking trip in years.

We generally go on some sort of day hike somewhere on every camping trip. Lately those have been in the Shenandoah National Park here in VA.

Oh I might do some hiking now that I think about it; That is, hiking to the kitchen and back, over and over again.

Love it. We do a lot as a family. There are a handful of forest preserves we use. We also have a favorite campground near Boulder Junction, Wi. that provides some fine hiking trails.

The pinnacle of my hiking days were going down to Phantom ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Haven't done that for almost sixteen years. Would love to do it with the kids in upcoming years.

Nice, hiking down to the Grand Canyon. I need to start looking at trails again.

There is a nice stretch along the Appalachian trail here in NJ that runs along High Point.

I did a lot of hiking/camping when I was a teenager/early 20's. Since then I've mostly day hiked but not for the past couple years. Last year I started picking up some new gear (backpack, sleeping bag, tent, etc.) and this year I plan on doing some overnights on the AT and C&O Canal.
I live within a 20-30 minute drive of both so it's a shame I haven't taken more advantage of it.

I guess I am a very avid hiker/backpacker. Go every year on different outdoor trips. I have done the AT (Appalachian Trail) from Georgia up to Virginia solo. Last year was in Colorado for a week of backpacing in the Rockies. Hiked up Mt Elbert in Colorado, Elevation 14,433 ft (3rd largest Mountain in the US) and after a 4 hour hike to the top, I promptly lit a Padron 3000 to celebrate. Nothing works right at 14,000 ft including my lighter!
Yeah, I love the outdoors, going back to Colorado in June!

Boy Scouts long time ago did lots of hiking.

Cool thing, my uncle who is in great shape is 63 years old I believe. He can now be called a "Thru Hiker" cause in a 12 month period he hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia. Now that is some hiking.

I am avid backpacker. Last year did the 165 miles around the Tahoe Rim Trail. I go on week long raft trips every few years. This summer I hope to do a week down the Green river and a week long hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. I do day hikes or car camping pretty much every weekend of the summer.

If I had the money I would love to hike the PCT from Mexico to Canada.

Seems like a long time ago.
Got my MBA in Flagstaff and hiked every trail in and around the Grand Canyon. Guided in the High Sierra's in California during the summers of 1971 and 72 out of Red's Meadows and Sequoia backpacking people into good flyfishing water. Hiked and camped part of the Appalachian trail in 1970. Hiked boy scouts all over Cape Cod.

Now camping is having to stay at a Holiday Inn.
