That's my new curse words...Holy SCHIP!!!

I stopped at a B&M yesterday to see what they had. Ended up purchasing both Ambos Mundos varieties in the robusto size and also a Casa Magna corona gorda size. Also picked up a box of Dunhill cigarettes for the wife.

Total price at checkout...$32.71

HOLY SCHIP!!!!!!

I forgot to get the itemized receipt...I was too busy sawing off my right arm with my knife.

I figure the cigs were $10. So that puts 3 cigars that are supposed to retail around $5 at post SCHIP prices of about $7 each.

Holy SCHIP!!!

Granted, I was in a high rent district and I'm quite certain the prices are jacked up a little bit (Opus robustos...$25) but Holy SCHIP!!!

This SCHIP just got real expensive!!!

That is messed up...you should call them out on it. I think there are going to be quite a few shops that are going to take advantage of this hike to add a couple more bucks into their pockets...damn them!

in the midst of asking the dorky little dude working the counter about how the SCHIP has affected them, he said the manager made sure he stocked up on everything before the tax went into effect, but they obviously weren't passing it on to the customers.

like i said, it was high rent district. Nordstroms, Smith & Wollensky, Bennington, and other fancy schmansy stores and restaurants. We saw a movie with the kid...Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D and they had a $4 per ticket technology fee. $11 per person total. What the hell is a Technology Fee?!?!?!?!

Holy SCHIP!!!

I should have known better than to buy smokes there. I'm such a SCHIP head sometimes!!!

Thats what you get for going there,!

I thought SCHIP would add $.40 to each cigar?

Jason
.402X per cigar (PLUS any added $$$ the cigar manufactures decided to add per stick... and some have) if you can take a 1000 of them and they weigh over 3lbs... if they weigh less than 3lbs per 1000 they are in a different bracket. That bracket was $1.90 (and some change) per 1000 and the tax went to I believe around $52 or $58 per 1000.

no doubt, it's a crappy tinderbox. They sell Baccarats...among other notable varieties that might fit the same description CI uses on it's Don Brotto cigars.

I have never seen so few facings in my life... nice guys, but it wasn't for me. But having Chipotle next door has lured me there a couple times, not going to lie.

Pete said he was not raising his prices on his stuff. That is not right
!!!
Actually it's worse if I'm not mistaken. He said he'd ABSORB the tax. That he'd rather loose some bread than loyal customers. So they taxed it twice (sort to put it).

Wouldn't you like to know?
We got hit today as well. My B&M got an email at 2:00 saying that the cap in alberta was being raised by another 50 to 60cents. Goes into affect at midnight. Thanks for all the warning. The store was allowed to stock up today as long as the order went in by midnight. Hopefully SCHIP wasnt pushed through low and worded to allow easy raises.
