so from feedback here, other friends including my wife, and gut feeling, i told my guy his smokes were resting, but i had real doubts. he took it well, and allowed me one off the top to study forensically.
bisected, then dissected. one fine thin wrapper layer, coarser binder, and a series of conjoined long fill filler. don't know enough about construction techniques in any smoke to tell, but it at least looked smokable.
lit up the remaining short church. like the ash color and eyeliner burn line, the uneven burn is probably too much rh (my bad). there is a twang to the flavor profile, and something in the texture i am unsure of, but it could just be young. at the very least, pedigree aside, he has a box of something smokable, and wasn't totally burned.
thanks again to all who responded on both sides. in the end, i see too many people here doing truly stand-up acts to NOT do something. as a BOTL now, i gotta keep the rep up!
