As a high school teacher, I certainly get times where I want to get upset, but it's finding and realizing what's bothering me, and averting the blow up before it happens.

Whether that means taking a time out, doing some sort of breathing or thinking exercise, or in extreme cases leaving the situation for a bit. In relationships, leaving is ok, as long as you know your partner knows you're going to come back. Exercise helps, and running or punching a punching bag worked when I was in college. I also would sometimes go outside or in a room, crank up the music and yell a bit.

I deal with issues, and it's been something that has run in the family. I certainly still have the Anger issues, but I've found, as silly as it seems, that talking to someone, and knowing you have someone who will let you vent for a bit, as long as you have an understanding is useful. Therapy isn't the worst thing in the world either. As taboo as it might be for men to get it.

Venting on thus thread has certainly helped! Or maybe it is the alcohol. Or both. Hah!

For me the best thing is to first if all remove myself from the source of my anger. Wife, kids, whatever. Then I try and find someplace quiet where I can pray and read the Bible. This helps me to focus and get my head right.

I used to self medicate with booze and weed but that only made me depressed and remorseful. It also caused me to let my guard down and say things that I regretted later.

Anger is a natural feeling or emotion or whatever u wanna call it. It can be a necessary evil. Anger can protect you or anger can endanger you. Anger can't be controlled but ur actions can be. You on the right track with ur actions. Asking for advice.

For me, I try to get in front of my anger. Take action before my day starts and people piss me off. I take some quiet time every day or almost everyday. Sit with my coffee and pipe with some fav baccy in a quiet place with no distractions. Call it meditation or whatever. Clear my mind of the clutter and take care of me. For me, when I do that I find it easier to let go of crap that happens during my day that would normally piss me off.

If u need a friend, pm me and I will send u my phone number. Text or talk. I've been thru 2 divorces and the world is full of people that piss me off. I'm like Rupe, I use to drown my anger in booze but that doesn't work for me either anymore.

Good luck brother.

I have some major anger issues bro. Like violent massive anger. I've had to learn to control it. Although I will admit I don't do it very well. I tend to remove my self from the source (if I can) then grab a drink and start to dismantle my knives and clean them. Or build gear bags or bug out bags or just go through my outdoors gear or make paracord shit. Anything that requires me to focus but isn't so difficult that I can't do it and I get mad about that too. I have three bug out bags that I routinely take apart and re assemble when I'm mad or stressed. Or I customize my knives. Like I was the other night while texting you lol.

I would just like to state that I disagree with you here. Your anger can be controlled. As can all emotions. Sure things influence towards one emotion or another. But we don't have to give in to that emotion.

We can agree to disagree. I believe no emotions can be controled. Not giving in to an emotion is controlling ur actions towards that emotion. Not controlling to emotion.

Bouncing was a release that I never realized I had until I stopped bouncing then I realized that was the perfect release. My violent responses to anger in the past taught me that in the end it just ain't worth it. So workin out shooting riding and smoking and sipping something all contribute to anger management for me. I absolutely hate myself later when I lose my temper. The results are never good. So I very very rarely lose it but that took years to get to. So now it's like whatever man id rather chill
