How to tell when a Cuban isn't aged enough yet? Montecristo

So many variables come into play. I was part of a blind taste and review. Most everyone thought the cigar was terrible. I thought it was a practical joke thinking he purposely sent us a dog rocket NC, when this was a CC forum. Turns out it was an OR Monte Double Edmundo. It, was, terrible.

Pretty sure you don't smoke enough ccs to know the difference.

I asked where you got them to find out if they were from a real vendor or somewhere questionable.

Ditto what the others have said. I'll add that Habanos in particular seem to vary a lot from stick to stick, even in the same box (though it does seem that when you get a "good box," most are good). When this has happened to me--and it HAS happened to me, on multiple occasions--I let the rest sit in the proper conditions for a couple months and then try again. I got some PEs not long ago and the first one I had was pretty "meh." They're coming around now, though.

FWIW, the Petite Edmundo is a favorite of mine. Don't give up on them!

I just smoked a Montecristo Petite Edmundo and it didn't taste that good, tasted a little bitter. Is this because the cigar wasn't aged enough yet and needs to sit?

Was it immediately unpleasant or did it happen further in?
