I bought the original food dehydrator and the original Ginsu knives. The dehydrator did work, but I couldn't stand the taste of some of the dry fruits. I use it to dry paint jobs on model cars now. It works just like a real paint oven. The Ginsus have been fantastic but I've only got a few left now because the rest disappeared. Hm.

Speaking of infomercials, the office and warehouse we lease is owned by a German fellow named Detrick. Back in the 70's he was the one responsible for bringing the Veg-a-Matic to market and for the infomercials. Remember, "it slices, it dices, why...it even juliennes fries!". When that started to fade, his next product was, you guessed it, the Ginsu knife. What is now our warehouse was where all of the product was brought into the US and our office was the packing room.
Detrick is an interesting character. He made himself a very wealthy man with those products.

The Little Giant is a great ladder. I don't have one myself but I've used them. very sturdy and versatile. That's one that's worth the money and lives up to the hype.

The first and last product I bought from an infomercial was the Hand-Hammered Wok of China. I still have it and cook with it often, 'bout 15 years later. In fact, just this last Saturday, I made Cashew Chicken with it.

But wait, does QVC count as an infomercial? I've purchased just two items from them. Last one was a great deal on Reed & Barton flatware.

Now that you mention it, I bought one of those. Still have it. Used it last month. Virtually indestructable. First cookware I ever bought.
