Interesting thoughts from Hamlet regarding how much flavor the wrapper imparts...

my knowledge on cc's is still very green but I will say this. I love the Cohiba line but dont care for the Maduro Cohiba at all. However on NC's I love the maduro wrapper the best. So I would think the blend inside the wrapper overall does impact the taste however I still believe the wrapper is the punch on a cigar. If you notice when a cigars burn starts to tunnel it doesn't taste that great at all so you touch up the wrapper to get it burning again and the good flavor of that cigar returns. At least that's my opinion.

Here is a different way of looking at it. When I have been in the factories in Havana it has been explained to me that most natural cigars get the wrapper from the same pile and the blending is more so done with the filler. It is explained to me, and I have never really beleived it till now but that all cigars ther use the same wrapper. This may explain why Hamlet puts so little flavour into the wrapper as most of their blends use the same wrapper. And cuban rollers do not smoke many non cubans to have that experience to draw from.

If you ever want to try an experiment on your own, go buy an Illusione Original Document and buy the same size in a Claro/Candella wrapper. The exact same cigar except the wrapper=Totally different flavor profile. And both great by the way!!

I'm late to this party but I agree with the brothers here. Smoke a LFD Double Ligero with and without the wrapper and in that particular case, the wrapper prob makes up 80% of the flavor in that blend.

But I guess I never have Done this with my ccs. It may be less, but not that less.

Maybe another way of looking at it would be to realize that 10% can be a ton of flavor. For example, how much jalepeno goes into a pot of chili? Is it 10% no. But that % that is in the pot influences the rest of the pot immensely.

So a well aged wrapper could only be 10% of the overall flavor equation, but leave you with more than 10% of the percieved flavor profile of the cigar.

Make sense? I think I confused myself with that response.

I have 2002 Partagas Lonsdales & Bolivar CEs, obth with light wrappers & both VERY strong.
Boy, are you not kidding there. Had an 02 BCE a few weeks ago and it knocked my dick in the dirt. Couldn't imagine smoking that fresh...

I wonder if they just blended it that way or if it is a matter of aging.
