is it bad ethics to put a link to my buisnesses web site in my sig?

is it wrong to add a link to your buisness in your sig?

i was about to add a link to the website for a multi-state buisness i'm apart of... and i thought it might be considered bad ethics or even spamish...

the last thing i want on this site is a bad wrap as a spamer or anything of that nature! i love being apart of this community and especially the occasional bombing!

but i'm also infront of an audiance that could greatly benifit from what i have to offer... so what say you?

i think once you get to a certain level or respectability (500 posts maybe?) it would be fine. People who have a link in their sig immediately upon signing up for the forum though are nothing but spammers.

I think if it's done tastefully (like most I see here) AND it's not more than two, it's fine.

When you see a link in giant red letters or when you see several, I feel like I am being subjected to advertising rather than just a "hey, check out my site ifyou want to."

My 2 cents!

Matt I think I already know the answer and it is no. There are site sponsors on here and (although cigar related) they pay for that advertising. Just my 2 cents. But still seeking E's approval would be a wise move. My opinion. Although I know your a great guy I would like to see all the other links taken away. But it's just my opinion.

I voted depends. first check with the admins. Second if the buisness is cigar/tobbacco related i would say become a sponser if you wish to add the link to your sig. Always tought to walk the fine line of advertising and spamming on forums like this.

I say, like most others, it depends. If it's cigar related, consider becoming a sponser. If it's not, then go ahead and post it. I've seen a number of posts and threads from members here shamelessly plugging their businesses, and I think a simple link in your sig line would be much more subdued.

Depends. If you just show up and start tossing around websites, then no. But the first thing I saw was 960 posts and 42 positive trader ratings. It's clear why you're here, and it's not to spam.

What they all said. Probably shouldn't have made it a public poll that you can see who voted for what though....

I'm sure that creating a thread about your experience of getting in to your business would be appropriate in the employment & finance forum. Maybe you could write about some of the challenges you face(d) and things you have had to overcome in starting out your business.
