Made it through high tide. Water level was about a foot from coming in the house. Peak high tide was 6' 6", they are predicting another 6 to 12 inches higher for the 537PM high tide which would be really close to floor level here. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I hope all will be ok. My prayers are with you and your family brother. I think losing your home is almost as sad as losing a loved one. I mean you can replace a home but there are some things of sentamental value that can't be replaced!!

I have gotten a few pm's and emails from a few brothers so I thought I'd post an update before I leave work. As I had said early this morning water was about 12 inches from coming in the house and they are expecting this afternoons tide to be close to a foot higher. They are predicting it to be 3" less than Isabel was 6 years ago and at that time the place I live in had "close to a foot" according to the landlord. It has me concerned as it is right at the limit to come in the house by the predictions. Keeping my fingers crossed that the wind will die down a bit and keep it below the predictions!! We still won't be out of the woods as they are predicting tomorrow mornings high tide to be similar to this mornings, but the big concern is about 4 hours from now.

Well I made it through with only a little bit of water in the house and feel fortunate compared to what some of my neighbors experienced.

Here is a pic from this morning about an hour after high tide, water was about 3' deep at this point and well inside the house in the left corner of the picture. This was about a foot or so lower than the high tide the night before:

At peak, the high tide was just a bit lower than Hurricane Isabel was in 2003, Isabel peaked at 7.9'. It was a very nervous 3 hours around high tide last night as the water came within inches of fully coming in the house. Forunately we never lost power with wind gusts that were reported up to 70 mph and rainfall amounts in the 9-13" range.

Our tides for the storm were:

Thursday AM: 6.7'
Thursday PM: 7.73'
Friday AM: 7.3'
Friday PM is projected to be a foot lower than this morning.

Thanks to all that sent well wishes and prayers and my BlackBerry boyz for helping me keep my sanity. Just another reason I love it here!
