I smoked one and bought two boxes of Robusto's. I've been smoking one every couple weeks since the release. They have all been great! The burn, draw, and overall construction has been premium $20+ quality, IMO.

Don Pepin told me himself, there is five different wrapper leaves in the blend, I can't remember them all off the top of my head though!

Wasn't this initially supposed to be a 12-15.00 cigar? I guess we're the lucky
ones huh?

Yea, I'd heard that too, but I'm not sure if that's the same cigar or not. I know that Jaime and Pepin were planning to both do special runs of their cigars, hand-rolled by THEM personally and put into individual coffins. Not sure which cigars, but I'm sure these would be in the $20 price range for something special and limited like that. Maybe because of the economy they decided to wait on those.

I haven't had a Jaime Reserva yet, looking forward to it--hopefully it's not over-hyped for me now from all this adoration, lol.

One of the better cigars in the last 5 years (Viaje excluded)

I keep meaning to sit down with pen and paper to do a review...Very well made, great flavor profile, and an absolutely stunning wrapper.

I've smoked every size ofnthese except the 6x60 and was unimpressed by all of them. There was nothing offensive in them but they were just not that good.

Wow

Is your humi in good shape?
:eyepoke:
If you consider they stay at 65/65 24/7 yeah they're in good shape.

The cigars are not overly flavorful and don't hold a candle to the other Pepin offerings. Don't get me wrong they are better than the La Reloba but that's not saying much.

different smokes for different folks, but I'm with you on these. I only smoked a petit robusto, but I just don't get all the fuss over this CT. broadleaf wrapper.

They're also way lighter on the palate, than most other DPG products. Keeping that flavor and complexity while being so smooth and light on the palate is a plus for me.

I tried these 4 different times from different B&M's and I just did not like it. I know most of you do, but I thought it lacked a lot of depth and was not very complex at all.

I hear what you're saying and agreed with you up until 6 months ago or so. That's when I started to love the La Riqueza and OR El Triunfandor. Here is what I've found in regards to Pepin's CT Broadleaf:

1) I have to smoke them for my first cigar of the day (and before evening in my case). This is because they are just too light on the palate for me to get much flavor otherwise. But on a clean palate, they're fantastic.

2) More age = better. Not sure why, but for me the La Riqueza and El Triunfador just have hardly any flavor until they have some decent rest--close to a year. The OR La Riquezas I have left are just fantastic now (especially the #1). Perhaps it's just that Pete doesn't age his sticks long before they're released.

Having said this, I'm smoking my first Jaime Garcia Reserva (a petite robo) as I type this. I'm only 1/2 an inch in, but I'm already getting a lot of flavor, and am enjoying it immensely. This stick could end up being an exception to my #2 above (or perhaps Jaime just aged these longer before releasing them).

Again, only 1/2 an inch in, but I'm getting spice, chocolate, and cofee that reminds me a lot of a Liga Privada #9 (a little less coffee than the LP#9)... and you guys know I love those things :)

Very nice opening.

Edit: Half-way through--this is a great stick. Lost some of the sweetness I liked, but still very good.

Edit 2: Final thoughts--loved it! The spice stayed until the end, and I enjoyed the cigar a lot. It did start to get bitter in the final third, but I slowed down a bit and it was fine then.

Jaime inherited his father's gift, make no mistake. If the My Father didn't prove it, this cigar certainly does. I'll be on the lookout for more of these Petite Robustos!
