thanx my friend.
I am thinking also about the same-ish size, not sure if I go tall, or wide.
I do want it to be a cooled unit, it really does get too hot here.
so far I haven't decided if I build it out of solid wood, if I do, I will probably do dovetails in the corners and glued in plywood back, then a spanish cedar inside, but I will need some insulation. I am thinking that 2-3 cooling units(3 I guess) will be enough.
I might also do a plywood construction and cut my own bookmatched veneer to really have the grain look like a mirror image. this is where my drumsander comes in handy:eyebrow: . I just bought a vacu-press veneer pump and 2 large poly bags, I haven't even used it yet.
the inside would be the same.
instead of a raised paned door, I am thinking of having some dual pane glass made and 2 large doors.
So far I am thinking of 3 large drawers or 6 smaller ones depending on the shape of my cabinet.

I am building cabinets for my laundry room right now to get some practice again and then I'll go buy wood.
I am considering Koa an option, but a combo of zebra wood and cherry would sound good too. this is in case I do veneer.figured Koa is about $80/bdft.

keep us posted. I wanna see your progress.

I have to go in the shop now and spray some more lacquer on my cabinets.

I though i only had to jealous of your cigar collections, now I'm green with envy over your garages. Sascha the rack of tools in your shop looks like a seen from the movie Hostel with all the torture tools.

I will be following your project closely Wade. I've been looking into a thermo-electric cooling system for my next one.

The shop looks great....I just finished building my router station.

Got Wood? I do! Just got back from the lumber store and picked up my Mahagony. You can see by the grain how the two boards on the right were consecutive slices from the same log, I know the pics really don't show the actual depth of the grain, but man, this is some good lookin' wood! Never mind the wifes bike in the background, it'll be gone once sawdust starts flyin'!

More pics added of what's done so far. I only get a couple hours a nite after work, and those of you who do woodworking know how you can just get into a groove after an hour or two...then I have to stop. I get to work on it tomorrow and maybe a bit on Friday. But it's coming along, the door frames are machined, the plywood sides are cut to size and pocket holes drilled (I still need to route rabbits for the top, bottom and back) and the lower door panels are glued up and just need to be cut to size and machined.

you made great progress, just shows how much I am running behind.
I just talked to RonC today and ordered an Accu monitor with 4 cans, 4 fans and 3 cooling units. Matt is ordering the parts and when they come in he is going to build my system. I can't wait.

the potassium dichromate is in the mail, so you should have it soon.
good luck with the build.
the mahogany ply looks pretty nice, it'll look good.

New pictures of the progress added. Today I got the sides rabeted out for the top, bottom and back. Attached the sides to the front face frame, got the door panels stained and glued up and top doors glued up. I need to pick up the baltic birch plywood tomorrow for the top, bottom and back and order the Spanish Cedar plywood for the interior, not sure why I haven't done that yet. I need to buy another board for the drawer front as I ran out of lumber damnit. However on the brighter side, I smoked a Oliva Serie V and two Opus today in the shop while working!

The cans on the Accumonitor are larger than I thought, so I guess although it takes a little more space, it's nice to not have to fill them as often. Nice system from the looks of it, I can't wait to get it done and installed.
