I've been on this forum for a short time, but already I feel very welcomed by the members. Someone is already sending me some of their favorite cigars due to me being new to the hobby. Completely unsolicited I may add. Wow, really outstanding!
Which brings me to my reason for writing this thread.
A lot of people on here found this site when their need for a new forum rose out of necessity and have embraced being welcomed here. It's obvious by their participation and willingness to make new acquaintances here immediately.
There are others, however, that find the need to preface their threads/posts/statements by mentioning how much it sucks/blows/is annoying/etc. that some site disappeared and now they had to join this site to pass the time/wait for new deals/waiting for some forum to come up so they can return/get some deals/whatever reason may be.
To me it just seems kind of rude and condescending to members on this site who enjoy BOTL that new people come here and basically exclaim that what once existed was better, and the now is just something to fill the time. It's like someone calling you to hang out on a Friday night b/c the other person with whom they had plans bailed (think high school and how you felt when this happened), and you're the next best thing.
I'm not saying I didn't find this site after the same thing, but I have to say that I am not looking back from BOTL. Nope, this is the place.
So maybe all the people that are coming here can refrain from bringing up all the nonsense about other forums? Or just pm others who may share the sentiment?
Just an idea.
