Yea, the spikes can be a pain. I had these at a BBQ.

If I want seafood, I drive down to the Jersey shore and get something fresh.

My favorite dish is a seafood medley....clams, scallops, calamari, etc with linguini. Usually in a red sauce but I'll change it up with a white every now and then.

You read my mind

I was like, shrimp & grits, WTF?

You southerners eat some weird stuff. I guess we have some odd dishes too but you seem to have more. I'd like to get down south and try some of them out.

Alaskan King Crab....mmmmmmmmm. I may just have to get some this weekend now.

The real shame of living up here is that we don't have an honest-to-goodness fresh seafood market here in Anchorage. The catching is done in more remote areas and pretty much goes right to the processors.

Oh...and don't pick on us Southerners for eating weird things as long as y'all are eatin' stuff like wallpaper paste...aka, Cream of Wheat.

Cream of wheat is good stuff.

That sucks about the crabs. Makes sense, they want to get them out of Alaska ASAP to make money in the seafood markets.

Don't they freeze them right on the boats? Then they go from the boats to the processor and to market. You may not get the crab but I know you get great halibut.

We've got a market in town (two locations, actually) that'll occasionally have live but small king crabs in their tanks next to the lobsters and dungeoness crabs.

I haven't been halibut fishing yet this year. Come to think of it, I haven't been out for salmon, either. Hell, I've hardly wetted a line for trout, for that matter.

Okay. Life officially sucks. :crying:
