I am with Nate on this one...I will smoke em at home...but not usually in public. Not only do they look kinda weird to the non smoker...but to me they are very fragile. I tend to talk with hands and hit stuff with my cigar time to time...they don't stand a chance.
And el truf.....mmmmmm.....

The only lancero I've tried thus far is the My Father and it was amazing.

I'm looking forward to trying the San Cristobal lancero.

I Agree with many of the comments made above.

To me the most Wonderful aspect of Quality Hand Rolled Cigars is the "Variety" of them.

Sometimes, I'm a Robusto Guy. Others a Torpedo, Corona, PC, Panatella or Lancero.

My standby Favorites are La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero, Olivas Serie V and DPG Lanceros. Non-Domestics? Trinidad Fundadores and the Cohiba Lancero. As others have noted, I too encountered issues with the size as a newbie. Fortunately I learned from more experienced Smokers the simple solution, patience and pacing the smoke.

I go on Flavor, Time available and past History, when reaching into the Humidor.

The concept of "Manly Cigars" is mostly due to inexperience or insecurity. Few experienced smokers will spout such nonsense. But, I have found that I simply don't care for the Huge ring gauges. I consider the 60+ rings 'novelty smokes' and leave them to others.

Like I said......Variety, is a Wonderful Thing.

Cheers!

Baldanders, it seems to me that many men think they look very feminine while smoking a lancero. I could understand the misconception from a lot of outside sources who do not, or occasionally smoke cigars. Many people assume that cigars should have a large ring gauge, but this myth has been busted time and time again by myself and my friend the FFOX petit lancero, and many other lanceros. The lancero and lonsdale take much skill for a torcedor to roll, hence the lack of flood of lanceros in the past. Just recently this vitola has become very popular with many smokers who were reaching for larger ring gauges...just my opinion...

A few of my favorites are as follows: FFOX Lancero, FFOX PL, LFD DL Oscuro (or), LFD DL Cameroon (or), Coronado lancero (or), Mi Dominicana, Cuveé Grand lancero (or), el triunfador, and Pinar Del Rio sun grown. I know I am leaving some off...

Nestor Miranda Special Selection is a lancero I try to keep on hand because of the price. Cubao, J. Fuego Delirium, DPG Blue are a few of my favorites. I've only smoked one My Father, but I had such a tough time with it, I haven't smoked another.

Not a big fan of Gurkha but just smoked a Gurkha Micro-Batch TPB-1 Lancero. Liked it a lot.
Going to head to the B&M tomorrow and see what they have for Lanceros.
