I just had a breakfast lance for my first february lancero smoke. The Tatuaje El T. It was tasty, but I had nothing but burn issues with it. Tunneling, kept going out, it was just bad. I hope the rest of the Tat's from the lance sampler are a better experience .

They should be. I say this having smoked through an entire box a few months back.

Drumstick, always a good stick but sometimes I have tar issues. Tonight was no different. I cut a little more off, made a conscious effort to purge and dabbed the nasty off on a napkin. Aside from that, it smoked like a champ. Nice HG spice and wonderful woody and earth flavors fade in and out with the sweet tobacco flavors. Smoke time at 1 hour 15 minutes. (I didn't use the nubbing tool). I'd rate it higher except the tar is a point of contention. 86

Looks like it's a three of a kind @javelin377 @King Kill 33

I had a HG Drumstick as well. My take on it. The profile was very consistent all the way down to the nub. My profile experience was cinnamon and nutmeg, a creamy smoke that built as I smoked. A peppery retro that ebbed and flowed, sometimes dictated by the size of my draw. In the end the creamy smoke became toasty which was very nice. Not much complexity at all but the flavors work very well together and I never got bored. Very good construction and only a few relights. (No tar issue although Ive yet to experience tar on any cigar to date. Sorry to those who've had to deal with that). 91/100

I think the drumstick is among best bang for your buck lances, and I'm grabbing a box ASAP. Yes, as KK said, there are tar issues but smokers like us know how to get around that. So good.

I'll be smoking my one Snaredrum this month and will post if there is a difference other than length of smoke.

Oliva V Lancero
Honestly, this was the cigar that got me started loving the long skinnies. I was newbily shopping at the B&M and the helpful, but overly pushy dude that was working at the time, said try one of these. They are slim so they smoke fast. Well, I got home, sat down in the garage and was surprised by how fast it DIDNT smoke. I took my time and really enjoyed it and thought, "I could really get into this size". The rest was history. I made it my first box purchase and have been loving them ever since. 36ct box too.
It is a great LANCERO for folks 'curious' about the vitola and have enjoyed other Oliva offerings. Even for guys that have smoked a few Lanceros here and there, if you haven't tried the V, you should. It's a consistently great. Hope the long read didn't bore you too much.
A short review: Has all the power and body that the regular V line has. Great smoke output and one of my favorite overall aromas in an NC. Smoke time 1 hour 30 minutes. 90 rating any day of the week. Enjoy!

Simply beautiful stick. Gorgeous dark chocalate wrapper with a nice, firm, even pack. Minimal veins and no visible seams. Started out with a slightly tight draw that was manageable, but cause for some concern. I adored the flavors and complexity of this stick. Chocolate, coffee, earth, wood, nuts, pepper, you name it. Quite literally a different flavor popping out with each puff. Decent burn and smoke output. Unfortunately, the further into the stick I got, the more the draw became an issue. I purged and recut going into the final third, but to no avail. Much to my chagrin, I had to put her down early. Without a doubt, this one deserves a second chance from me.
Final Score: 89 (easily a 93+ with a better draw)

This was the only lance I could find at my B&M so it will be my first. Thanks for the great review.

My first cigar of the month, the JdN 1970. First time trying this vitola. I remember liking the Gran Consul. Very barnyard pre-light. Loose draw, very spicy, but not complex. Very just...meh. Mashed it 2/3 of the way through. It could all just be me, I had a small window of time and tried to rush one in. Wasn't really in the right place of mind.

Warped La Colmena Amado No. 36. Received my order from Small Batch last week for these. I love lanceros and figured I would give these mini lances a shot. These are 6 x 36 and upon checking the draw after cutting, I thought it was plugged. Thinking another cut might help, I clipped it again. Crap, still nothing. Then I began laughing at my dumb ass and remembered these have a closed foot. Toasted the foot and am about an inch into it and all is well.

Had a little catching up to do, so I smoked three today. First a tatuaje black petite lancero that had about 4 years on it. It was surprisingly spicy and strong for a stick of that age. Ash was super white and had a great aroma. Second stick was the warped lancero from the dominican collection la ville I think. Good taste, a little one dimensional, but awesome construction and burn. Third was caldwell eastern standard silk road. Lots of body and a very refined flavor. Complex, but not lop sided in spice and strength. Lots of roasted nuts and bread notes. Great stick and the clear winner of the day.

Tatuaje Black Label PL

This stick has a nice looking medium brown wrapper and the construction seems solid, although this stick has a rather rugged look to it. I like it. Great draw(only slightly snug), good burn and smoke output. This one was enjoyable and quite smooth to me. Lots of flavors including cedar, light espresso, semi sweet chocalate, some spice and pepper, and a sort of sweet note like cinnamon or cherry that would pop up here and there. Stayed cool down to 1 1/2" when I put it down.

Final score: 87
