Liga price increase?

I love Ligas as much as the next guy, but I am roughly new to the cigar world (~1 yr), and I always want to try new things. The Ligas are great, but I am actually branching out to other brands to expand my palate. IMO, the price increase won't affect the die-hard Liga smokers out there. I will keep them in my rotation, but not as an everyday smoke. I don't want to limit myself to these, as good as Ligas are, if that makes sense.
I'm now in that same boat. I love the LP line, but the hike has them into the special smoke category. Damn! At least the UC's didn't go up though.

The Undercrown is my everyday smoke. I seriously love them. The Liga Privada brand is and always has been a luxury smoke for me. The Drew Estate family knows that everyone cannot afford to smoke these all the time and I know they wouldn't have increased the price unless they absolutely had too. I will still buy them. I can always afford to pamper myself once in awhile. They are worth my money.
In my opinion the T52 is one of the best smokes I have ever had and I have paid much more for cigars that aren't as good. I think everyone should treat a good cigar as a luxury anyway. If you can't afford to smoke them then don't smoke them everyday. Its more important that they make enough money to keep the brand consistent that way I always can grab a beautiful smoke every time. I know what I am getting every time I buy one. Pure heaven. Just my opinion.

I think one side of people in this thread are misconstruing everyone's comments on the price increases as LP hating, when in fact they are just commenting on the price increases, voicing a bit of frustration that they won't be able to smoke them as often, and basically saying the brand is pricing itself out of their budgets. I'd be surprised if there were many people in this thread that do not love LP products, because if they didn't they probably wouldn't be commenting at all about the price increases.
I love LP and can still see myself picking some up at some point in the future, although much less than I have in the past. And I'm glad I currently have a few lying around to save for special occasions, as I can't afford to smoke a $12 robusto every other night.
And to piggy back off of Hosh's comments, I too would rather see price increases as compared to quality decreases.

I prob look at things different then most. To me this raise is minor when you are talking about buying a box. If you are going to spend $300 for a box now you are going to spend $320 for a box. So for me this is fine w/e the reason beeing I understand and will still buy as many as I can.

Maybe they knew the demand might go down a bit if they raised prices, with that beeing the case little less demand but maybe the same profit and they can catch up to have enough to keep them on the shelves on a regular basis. - just another way to look at it

I love LP as much as anyone else, but as Justin and others have highlighted as my point, for me, they've out priced themselves.
If an LP and an Opus are sitting next to each other and I have to pick one for virtually the same price, I'm taking the Opus.
Or for that matter, 2 other great sticks that you can find these days.
Liga was a stick that I would grab by the box and love at a respectable price. Then it went up a year ago and I had to stop and think about it a little, and now it's gone up again and that one crossed that line for me. It's a mental threshold of spend vs value and at a lower price point, I don't have to have that debate. And now I do.
Spend your dollars as you see fit!

Seriously though I do Like LP products and will keep them on hand for a while.
I like variety and will continue to smoke these at this price point, along with Opus and Anejo and others, maybe LP will be smoked less frequently than before.
Luckily I have enough to last me a little while.

There has been nothing but love for DE on the BOTL board for many many years. This is my personal HomeBoard and anyone who knows me, knows that.
The love and friendships have been extremely appreciated and will continue to blossom. There is love here for many brands, and most of them, actually, all of them are definitely deserving. But the thing that makes BOTL so special is the people. Everyone is so damn good to each other that you want to always be part of the next dudes happiness and try to help soften the blow of the next guys pain.
I think that ZachF88 got a bit over defensive and misunderstood a totally fair statement and observation regarding price - as a hate move. But it was certainly a mistake on Zach's part.
Hurley is good people and he was just making a point. A good point. Please don't roast the kid cause he seemed to have gotten all amped up. Trust me, after getting to meet Zach and his wife Drew (no relation) I can tell you that this young dude loves cigars and is a nice kid. He was sticking up for me against big bad Hurley, my beer guy.
Anyway, bak to price. The increase sucks. I am going to see what the hell happened and get back to the board.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to address this. Glad that you do know there is nothing but love here for DE, just people voicing their own opinions.
After reading through the whole thread today, I realized that I made a mistake. I misinterpreted the message and I blew up. Why? I have no idea. I wasn't in the right mind yesterday and I rarely do sh!t like this. So I apologize for my actions. I will edit my original post. I have nothing but love for Ligas and BOTL, and I hope to be a valued member on this forum.

Not trying to speak for everyone, but I wouldnt worry about it. It had been pointed out by people that they were surprised with the arguing that was going on in this thread, but I mean, dont true brothers fight? As long as no one gets personal its all good, we all got different opinions and should be able to voice them with out being attacked, as long as it doesnt get personal. IMHO at least.
