A stock Z06 does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds...all still in 1st gear.

Not as great a deal as the STi. It's about twice as expensive, but it also has 205 more horsepower. As a former owner of a vette, and as a guy who works with STi's I can say the quality and luxury found in a vette is nowhere near matched in a STi. The STi is all sport...great if you just sport around and go to the track. The vette is great if you also wanna get dressed up and go to a nice dinner in your suit...then go kick an STi's ass in a quarter mile. It's really the best of both worlds. If I had 35,000 dollars I'd rather get a used vette that had more horsepower and more luxury and just plain looks great. Of course, that's just mho. The STi does have the backseat (albeit tiny), which is a definite thumbs up over a vette. But those STi's are fast mofo's don't get me wrong. Very sharp from a company known for Forrester's and Outback's.

A better example of current American muscle that can beat out current "rice burners" is the new GT500 comin out. That thing will kill a STi, comin out strong with 450 horses. It's supposedly going to have a pricetag very similar to the STi. I would say that's more along the lines of a bargain vs. bargain shootout. The mustang has more horses, it's faster, priced about the same, American and sporty just like the STi. I guess the Corvette is really in a different realm. The stock engine the GT uses puts out 0-60 in 4.7. It's now supercharged. I think I read it'll do it in just under 4 now.
