I like scotch a lot and I was just wondering what some of your favorites were. Also checking out what regions they are from.

My top 3:

Lagavulin 16 - Islay
Laphroaig QC - Islay
Clynelish 14 - lowland

There are tons more but I have been really enjoying these lately:yes:

Hmmm, let's see...

From Speyside I like Craggenmore a lot.

From Islay I have only tried Bowmore and like it but the peaty smokiness is a little difficult to get used to. Oban is considered a West Highland but it right on the coast across from Isaly and is a favorite of the smokier Scotches. I really want to try Bruichladdich though.

For a pure Highland Single Malt I like the Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish the best...admittedly I have not tried many Highland Scotches. My collection so far is mostly Speyside Single Malts.

I was reading my Whiskey book by Michael Jackson last night and after reading about Highland Park it has moved to the top of the list for my next buy.

I have only seen the 12yo around here though.

Pretty good eh?

Highland Park is an Islay, but is not as pronounced as Laphroiag, that is to say it's not as peaty/smokey, but it has deep flavors. It's excellent

Actually, I believe the Highland Park Distillery is on the island Orkney off the northern most tip of Scotland.

I like the hints of smoke created by the lightly peated malts and Michael Jackson describes Highland Park as a very well balanced peated single malt.

The best I've ever had...and only once...was The Macallan 30-year-old. However, I don't foresee myself affording a bottle anywhere in the near future, so I won't include it on the list.

My top three are all Islay malts...

  • Lagavulin 16
  • Laphroaig 15
  • Caol Ila 18
