I'm of the opinion that the National Anthem is not open for artistic interpretation. You don't "cover' the National Anthem, you sing it, as it is written, as it was composed. That's like changing the words to the Pledge of Allegance.

It's fine for a singer to put his or her own interpretation on the national anthem, but that girl on MNF just plain sucked. This teeny bopper style of singing, popularized by the highly annoying American Idol, just convinces people they can sing when they actually stink to high hell.

Speaking of the anthem, I just read THIS story about another of the NBA's "finest". :argh::angerFU:

I think we should send this idiot back to Africa where he belongs. I'm sure he could find plenty to celebrate there.

Really? We may disagree with his opinion (I didn't listen; I don't know what it is), but he's an American. Just exactly where in Africa should he be sent?

But I really don't understand what the hell the guy meant when he said I don't celebrate that shit, I'm black. WTF does THAT have to do with anything!!!! That's like me saying I don't celebrate that shit because I'm a fat f%ck!!! That kind of crap really burns me up. The guy is a freakin' asshole for saying that. It's one thing to not want to sing the national anthem or the pledge of alligiance for philisophical reasons. But to be disrespectful is another animal all together. And the best reason you can come up with is your black??????? Sorry, that's just plain stupid whatever your ethnicity is.
