The way I see it, if your kids are okay with this, now is the ideal time. The kids are young, changing schools and given an opportunity to thrive in a new setting. The change of schools will be a big enough change early on - new environment, teachers, making new friends, etc. The school work will be the only thing "familiar" to them early on, so it wounds like a win-win situation for everyone.

The kids will have a chance to continue to master crucial standards, objectives etc., while in the long run, they will be more mature both physically and mentally.

I don't see this as being an issue as much with girls as I do with boys, since girls typically mature faster than boys early on. I was 17 when I graduated high school and well into my first semester of college (November birthday) Athletically, I wish my parents had not started me so early.

Good luck with your decision, not an easy one by any means. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to share the question with some of my co-workers that teach those grades, since I teach the 6th grade.
