Ok so first let me say that I have never participated in any forum of any kind while I am not computer illiterate my computer skills have mainly been selling on Ebay so please bear with me.
I started smoking cigars about 4 years ago and had no idea what I was doing and none of my friends smoke cigars so any help from them was not a possibility. The only help I could get was from the internet and forums are by far the best place to go instead of companies that just want you to buy their latest and greatest product. It seemed that every time I had a question and googled it I would end up in this forum with some of the BOTL answering the same question for someone else. I have learned almost everything I know about cigars (from how to cut and light a cigar to how to set up my humidors) from the BOTL without ever asking a question myself so when I decided to join a forum there was really never a question of which one I only hope that as I learn more I can be a help to someone else. I recently posted an introduction on another thread but maybe it should have been here so here it is.

I celebrated my 3rd anniversary of my 39th birthday this year and have been married for 23 years. I have three children all boys ages 15, 17, 21. I went to Marshall University and have been a crane operator most of my life. I enjoy camping, travel and football. I started smoking cigars on a regular basis about 4 years ago but smoked a pipe for many years before that. I currently have 2 humidors set up. One is a 150 count and the other is a 300. I have dreams of building another out of an old antique cabinet but have not found the cabinet that is just right yet. I fund my addiction by selling sports memorabilia in my spare time. This is the first forum I have ever participated in so please be patient.

Now that introductions are done I need some advice from some of you veterans
Although I have been smoking cigars for about 4 years I have not tried very many different brands I started off on some Davidoffs and quickly found CAO's then I tried Romeo Y Julieta 1875 and their Reserva Real and have simply bought box after box of these as they are my favorites(1875) for everyday smoking. I also really liked the Padron 1964 but I save those for special occasions as I cannot afford to smoke these daily. Could you please make some recommendations knowing what I have liked in the past. I would like to have recommendations both for everyday and those special occasion smokes.

Welcome from Chicago! I would try the E.P. Carrillo line... although, I haven't had a non cuban Romeo Y Juieta n a really long time. Buy a single and see how you like it. Also, the Padron XXXX series are good... those would be my everyday smoke tries to start with.

In my opinion, worlds difference... to be honest, I don't smoke General or Altadis made sticks anymore... but that's what this forum is about: Trying things and sharing your opinion.

It's what you like and enjoy. There's no right answer when it comes to your own preferences... My high level suggestion would be to try some singles that people will recommend... and there will be a lot of great recommendations from this crowd... Make some trades to get new sticks... check out the newbie trade area... and you'll be able to hone in on something else that you may enjoy more than what you currently smoke, or maybe not.

In end, I can guarantee you'll have some fun during the process. I've only been on the site as a member for almost two months, and I'm having a blast!

Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy your stay here. If you like the higher end Padrons then the x000 line will surely be a hit. Also Fuentes are a good everyday or special occasion smoke depending on which one and how baller you are . Some others you might like would be Diesel Unholy Cocktail, 601 Maduro (it's the blue label), and if you've not had any of the Liga Privada stuff you really should try it. There's just so much out there it's hard to recommend everything. You're best bet is to just try a lot of different stuff and see what you like.

Yeah I would say any of the Padron x000 maduro series, they are cheap and flavorful. perfect for an everyday smoke.

another one that I realy enjoy in the afordable side and very flavorful is the Arturo Fuente Rothschild Maduro.

I've had a few R&J CC and most are plugged when you are lucky to get one with a nice draw, they are nice. but I tend to feel that their flavors doesnt change much from earthy to dry stone. sometimes you have some nuts and a little butter, but not enough.

Excellent introduction...would have loved to have been a crane operator. We have alot in common.

For a suggestion on sticks here's a couple that might fit your taste buds.
1. Padron X000 series
2. Tatuaje Miami Blends
3. Pepin Blends

Again.....Welcome!

Welcome, and so many suggestions that I would say +2 to, so go grab some of them and try them out.

Half the fun is finding what you like. Go to your B/M and grab a handful from the lists above, go home and go from there.
