I'm pumped about these. Even if there is some "grassy" flavors, that's fine--I like that sometimes. The 5 Vegas Gold and Edge Lite both have a somewhat grassy flavor and I like those, though I prefer the NUB Connie and Casa Torano most of the time.

But I still think the Perdomo ESV is the best Connecticut cigar I've ever smoked.

Man, I love those Casa Torano's. Great little one-dimensional cigar.

I do have to say again that I only really noted the grassy-ness during the 1st 1/2" or so. Cameroon and Connecticut are the hardest cigars to find good blends on (IMHO) simply for the unique taste of the wrappers. Many blends just don't balance that strength well- and when one stands out that is balanced well, there seems to be a ton of talk about it. The Hemingway, for instance.

I agree on both counts. Many Cameroons simply taste like...cameroon, lol. Fortunately for me, I like that flavor, and when I want it I can get a La Aurora 2nd or LVH Fumas both for under $1/stick :skew:.

The same is often true of Connecticut sticks. In fact, it wasn't until about 6 months ago that I started regularly smoking Connies, because until that time I hadn't found one that stood out to me. The one I found, then, was the 5 Vegas Gold, which had more spice than I had ever tasted in a Connie. Since then I've found others as well. Now I really love Connies and lately I smoke them even more often than maduros (previously I was a 95% maddie guy).

The "grassy" flavor that has been detected in these could be due to their youth after all. I was reading an article today saying how Oliva rolled these in October. That is four months at best, well shy of the standard six. It may be that some of these aged better or faster than others, hence the difference in experiences.

Had my first one today... and to be honest wasn't overly impressed. Creamy, sure... but I dunno. Maybe a couple months in the humi will work some magic on them... or a different vitola...

Digging this thread back up. Just had an Oliva Connie Robusto tonight and I must say I didn't get any hints of grass at all. The have been in my humi for at least 6 months now, so maybe the aging took the grassy flavor out? Have you guys continued to get the grassy notes?

Overall I really enjoyed it. Glad I have 4 more in the humi. Heres some pics with some notes too, just for fun.

Burn was very good. Almost perfect. Ash was medium grey, held on for a good inch and a half.

Draw was excellent. Good amount of resistance, not too hard to pull on. I like to take long, slow pulls off of cigars, and these were very enjoyable with this stick.

Just a really good looking stick too. It smoked just as good as it looks!

It definitely won't be another 6 months before I give the others a go. These would also be great sticks to give to friends who don't smoke often or don't like fuller flavors.

I am not a Connecticut fan as my taste has changed considerably since I started smoking cigars on a regular basis. However if Oliva keeps making cigars as they have been it should be a treat for thoes of you waiting. I really like the V Maduro the best and other V's too. If you can find it give the Oliva Master Blend 2 a shot!

it was a good connecticut but not the taste for me generally. good cigar if you like CT's though...the 601 black CT is the one to try! and the RP vintage 1999 CT is worth a smoke as well.

I am also not a ct smoker, but the Oliva CT has been my morning smoke for quite some time now. They were released last year sometime, honestly, i'm somewhat shocked that many of you are just finding out now what a great cigar it is. My local shop in groton ct has had them since they were initially released, and for a ct, it has some really great flavors to it. Even strong smokers will have to admit, the CT is a great light stick. IF you have yet to light one up, i strongly urge you to give it a try.

I can't even explain how fast they flew off the shelves in St. Louis. I really enjoy these cigars- great for any time of day. Good flavors, FANTASTIC price point. Oliva is an amazing company.

Great pictures there Brad!
