Since you are newew, I want to clarify something for you.

Cooler = icechest

coolerdor = icechest with some form a humidifaction and any number of other modifications you like, used for cigar storage/ageing

wineador/winecooler/coolerdor(sometimes) = w thermoelectic cooled wine fridge, standard is 28 bottle size, used to keep cigars cool in a hot climate.

There are a couple threads at the top of the Storage forum that explain what to do and how to do it for all of the options.

Isn't tupperware air-tight, though? I thought the cigars were supposed to be able to breathe slightly.

That being said, can't a humidor's seal be too shoddy and allow too much air in/out if it's poorly constructed?
yes, it is airtight, but you open it once in a while... that's enough circulation for tuperdor.

OK. I own one cheap humidor and two very nice ones that were pricey. The cheap one (like the one shown) was made in China, looks nice and doesnt hold stable worth shit. The good ones are made in the US by furniture folks that specialize in humis and nice hand worked stuff . The hold rock solid and never ever have given me a problem. Oh and they also look very nice as they are real wood and not veneer. Save your money. Buy a tupperware box or a cooler and make a tupperdore or cooledor. When you want a real humi to sit on your desk or to display, get a good one. You will be glad you did.

My opinions...

-They normally over quote its capacity. That wont hold 180 cigars.
-Go about 3x bigger then you think you need.

Here is same size, cooler look IMO: http://www.tampahumidor.com/sd4/product/vizcaya-3292.cfm

Even a better buy(size wise): http://www.tampahumidor.com/sd4/product/matera-2417.cfm

Personally I wouldnt go any smaller then this: http://www.tampahumidor.com/sd4/product/salerno-3125.cfm

One of mine is this one, I love it, its prob my fav. (doesn't have a tight seal but with beads its maintains perfectly...go figure.) http://www.tampahumidor.com/sd4/product/the-montegue-3209.cfm If you think you will buy boxes/more then a few 5 packs every once in a while I recommend going big.

FYI, that site runs free shipping deals often, get on the email list.
