Lost City Lancero.... this cigar is smokable now. It does not have the bold spice of current release Opus...It also does not remind me of the original 90's release Opus. Not as good. OR Opus had a more mature flavors and creamy texture throughout...something you can get now by aging current release for several years. The pre-light draw is very good and tasty. The lancero draws very well and burns like a champ. Initially pepper notes that mellow over the first inch. after 2 inches some creaminess. the cigar produces a rich plume of smoke. At the half-way point there are characteristic Opus flavors. The last half of the cigar pays off with richer flavors and some complexity... I would say it was not as good as I had hoped for a $30 stick... I would pick the Don Carlos 30th over this cigar for the money, definitely.. Given 2 to 3 years of age I'm sure they will improve... Buy them? yes, if you can. Age them? Definitely

The Lost City Lancero is made up of Regular Opus Blend, not the Lost City blend.

Thanks for the review!

Stogie Fresh had a positive review in his podcasts, and I read two positive reviews on CigarAsylum and CigarAficionado.

I'm smoking my first one tomorrow, assuming this cough goes away tonight.

My understanding is that the Opus Blend tobaccos are aged for 4 to 5 years before they are rolled...After they are rolled, boxed and shipped they need time to mellow as a completed product, some say anywhere from 2-6 months to years depending on your taste and patience.

Have smoker's tastes changed in the last decade or have the cigars? I can't seem to EVER remember the American smoker saying that a Fuente product needed "time". I was the only person I knew who would always lay cigars down.

When were they rolled? The flavors probably need a bit of time to come together...
.....Padron ages there leaves then rolls them and out the door they go. I've never had to have them come together to have a good smoke out the box.

I know a lot of the tobacco padron uses is aged for quite a while. The 26 is made with 5 yr old leaves.

From my understanding opus just a couple years ago was still using tobacco from 1999. With all the opus shipments this year and other projects they are doing I wonder if they are using newer tobacco from their warehouse.
