Agreed, the 1970s for their price are amazing, and the Dark Corojos are strength monsters. Wonder why GSCC doesn't stock em?

Ive had a couple LVHs and I really don't like them. I was honestly surprised when I heard these were what got DE their start. I wonder if the blend has changed, because they are definitely not for me.
The "original" La Vieja Habana The Early Years were what you should have tried. the LVH standard line is mixed filler.

The LVH TEY were outstanding cigars....sizes like the Silencios, Festibal de Moroc, Platinum Star...they were exceptional smokes.

Then CI re-blended them....:hanghead:

Honestly some of the natural line was enjoyable when I first started smoking. I think they are made with pipe tobaccos that are cured like cigar tobacco. Don't quote me on that though. The whole natural line is more of a dessert cigar than anything if you ask me. Pair it up with a sweet after dinner drink and some dessert and you're good to go.
I always thought the same thing about these...would make great pipe tabocco!!

Love the JdN Antano 1970
Hands down my favorite budget stick!!

Hola guys and gals,

I'll chime in a little, since it's easier and funner than booking 7 round trip plane tickets.

The EGG was released with the Natural line of cigars in 2000. It was a novelty Size, while the Natural line in whole was not. We make about 115 or so a day, and could probably sell more than that if we had more production available. However, it is funny that people still talk about it cause it's just straight crazy. Now, the Medusa on the other hand, is a damn good Culebra and draws beautiful.

The history of LVH is something I would love to write about one day soon, if anyone is really interested, as it is closely tied into the history of the company. It is absolutely true that the current LVH is mixed filler, like 70/30 and is significantly different than the original "Leather Patch" that we made in NYC on 31st street and 6th Avenue, later with Nick Perdomo in Miami on 7111 Flagler Street, then in his Nicaragua operation when it first opened by his dad, Nick Perdomo Sr. (RIP), as well as the LVH "Early Years" that became a whole deboggle with JR, which was my fault, as well as the second generation Leather Patch with CI, and second generation Early Years. (those Silencios were a damn good little stick though, and plenty strong for the time).

Anyway, I have to book these damn tickets or I'm going to make a bunch of people all pissed off at me.

Just sparked up a Liga Privada MF 13 and enjoying the he'll out of it.
Best,
JD

So I've been curious about this for quite some time JD, do you smoke any of your Acid line? I know I've seen Mr. Saka say stuff about them from time to time on his Facebook, I'm really more curious about you though. I know a ton of Makers claim to only smoke their own brand *coughRockyPatelcough* and I mostly find that to really just come off as pure Bulls**t, so I suppose long story short: What of your own lines besides the Liga's do you smoke and about how often? I know I've seen pics of you and Ernesto Padilla so it's safe to say you smoke more than your own. Sorry for the rant

On the subject I do plan on burning a LVH today and I would be very interested in the story. I also do enjoy Opulence 3 and a Deep Dish from time to time, I find the Deep Dish pairs very well with Woodchuck Apple Cider.

Hayblet ...

Here's what I smoke - and not in any order, trust me. Remember, I still have to book these damn plane tickets, but I'm addicted to this frickin site.

* Liga Privada T52 and No. 9
* Illusione Epernay, and the go-to 88 and 68's.
* Tempus, but not the maduros.
* Padron in Maduro, and recently some Naturals. Generally go for the 1926 when I can afford it.
* EP Carillos is definitely making it's way into my rotation. Like that Core Line alot.
* Tats are always nice and really like that Pork Tenderloin. Brown labels, Cojonu, and all sorts of his stuff.
* Agonorsa Leaf are damn nice, all three sizes.
* Opus with 3 years or more. Bring um ..!
* the My Father with the Ecuadorian Habano has blown me away and I need to stock up on these while they are smoking so damn good.
* el Titan de Bronze is getting his shit together and I like the direction he is going in. This kid is an up & comer for sure.
* 7-20-04 are awesome, but I'm particular to the Robusto.
* Tabak Especial and Java for end of the night after I have smoked many full bodied all day.
* Joya de Nicaragua when I want the Jimmy jam strength, especially the new Dark Corojo. These are one of the very finest aged cigars, and reminds me of how the Opus age, but don't need more than 8 months or so to start bringing out all the great flavor. I also really enjoy the Cabinetta for a mid day, medium body stick.
* havent had enough Viaje to say much.
* Fuente Anejo from time to time very nice. No age the better.
* Ashton VSG with some age, and I like the Aged Maduro as well.
* Camacho Corojo and Room 101 have been getting in the rotation lately as well

Damn, I can go on and on like Exxon. Sorry to write so much.

Besides all the LP lineup. (which is my top fav.)

-The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo is a killer stick and IMO is the next best thing under the ligas as far as anything involving DE
-The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 is great.

-The LVH Corojo and LVH Connecticut are good for the money. I love having these for give aways for any novice cigar smoker

Love Acids too. After trying most, I stick with Acid Toast and Kuba Maduro. Anyone who hasn't had one or is curious, that's what I always recommend.(or anything with a Maduro wrapper) Consider that there is a difference between a "flavored cigar" and an "infused cigar" Unlike flavored cigars, you can actually distinguish the taste of the quality of the tobacco as well as the infused flavors.

One thing I will say is JD did it right, He took the flavor cigar market and took it up a notch. DE uses high quality tabaccos in their blends for the Acid line. I really don't smoke Acid I perfer the T-52 and #9 but you can't say their complete rockets. No short fillers and table scraps along with average primings pretty good for a flavor infused cigar.

Thanks for chiming in Mr. Drew! I think it's absolutely awesome you personally engage your customers! I'd love to hear the whole story about LVH. The back stories behind cigar makers are usually quite interesting.

The hell is a Liga Privada MF 13? Yet another cigar to try haha. Funny, cause DE cigars were always a favorite of mine and Naturals were really one of the cigars that got me into the hobby, yet I hadn't tried a Liga Privada until a month ago. No.9 was nice and I really enjoyed the t52. Yet to try a Rat though.

Now make us a BOTL Clean Rat. :)

Thanks for chiming in though JD, always love to read the post's from our celebrities like yourself and PJ.

Mr. Drew is sending me some new stuff he's working on. I can barely keep my pants on. As soon as I get them, I will share. About a week or two.
