Since the early 1932 Pepin rolled, the subsequent 1932's were rolled at Raices Cubanos in Honduras. Great Factory, I hope Ernesto can match the quality, it won't be easy.

Agreed, I really enjoy the Casa Fernandez blend, actually prefer it to the Pepin 1932. I wonder what if anything the lawsuit between Eduardo and Pepin had to do with this.

my understanding is that the regular "miami" and the 1932 just received new bands and are still being made at Raices. Ernesto (or whomever operates the Padilla twitter account) confirmed this on twitter in January. It's doubtful anything has changed since then... but possible I guess.

Only the new "miami 8 & 11" are made at el titan de bronze on calle ocho. These are the sticks with the double bands designed similar to the original red pepin-made "miami 8&11". I have a box, but haven't touched them because there are conflicting stories about how many were made. I'd like to know how easily I'll be able to get more before I start toasting the ones I have. Anyone have insights in to production volume?

Have only tried a couple Pepin-made Padilla sticks. Would love to get my hands on some old 1932's as every review I've seen is super-positive. Any brothers looking to make a trade would be well treated in an exchange :)

The post-pepin sticks (from raices) are all very good. I believe the aganorsa raw material + raices manufacturing formula is shared by illusione, viaje and others. personally, i think the raices-made padillas are in the same class as those brands but just don't get the hype. They're close enough in quality and flavor depth so that all that separates them is a matter of personal preference.

I toasted my last pepin 8&11 over the weekend. I had a new Miami when they first released but can't remember how it compares. I didn't see any for sale on a quick search. Were they a limited release?

I met Ernesto at his shop - after a short conversation, he practically bombed me with about 5 or 6 sticks & gave me a tour of his place. It didn't hurt that he had one of the most beautiful Cuban women I have ever seen working there at the time!

Sorry to get away from the original post, but I have always liked Padilla (except the 1968 - blah!)! I hope he maintains the quality wherever they're being made!
