They've barely been out 5 years and were AWESOME upon release. The best release I've had so far.

This is currently my favorite Partagas the 08 and 09 I am smoking now have been stellar.
Current production are smoking very well fresh, but I believe they will be fantastic in 4-5 years.

I'm not really a bourbon drinker, but the Pappy Van Winkle sounds intriguing.
From a lifelong Kentuckian and bourbon drinker....it doesn't get any better than 20 year old Pappy's. I agree with the OP that the 20 is preferred over the 23.

Nice review! I have a few P2's resting at home. Maybe I need to let one out.

Eh, I dunno about that... I think the 08s have been phenomenal and I can't age them because I keep smoking them!

Either way, great review!
I just smoked the first out of a May 08 box I got in last week, and man, did that sucker have some oomph to it. I don't think I was prepared for it....but hot damn, did I enjoy it! In a :eyequiver kinda way....

Performance was excellent (draw, burn etc.), and that was only after 1 week or so of rest.

There was still some youth to it (slight bitterness/ammonia), but not enough to deter me from enjoying it.

These puppies are great now, but the aging potential here (at least as I see it)....is going to be exceptional. :hearteyes
