Passing fakes..

On another board a guy is bombing people and putting fakes in a PIF. I dont think he realizes he has fakes, SO I dont think its intentional. Whats the best way to make sure no one else gets stung? Do I out him publicly? PM's ?

These are quite obvious fakes, the sizes are not even close. Smells like stinkweed.

I'm not sure that's necessary, PM him and see what he says, if he truly doesn't know he should be apologetic.

The real problem is people selling cigars they know are fake, this pisses me off, these people are not BOTL's they are theives!!!! They get burned on a trade, sale or by a vendor and try to recoop there $$ at the expense of others.:smt013

That is one of the pitfalls of this hobby.

I am sure all of us have recieved a fake before. Some from people that dont know better and some from people that are trying to get over on somebody.

If it was unintentional that is one thing...
But if they are knowingly sending them out they are hurting themselves ( who would ever trade with this person after finding this out)
AND
They are hurting all of us. Giving good cigars bad reputations and downgrading the whole culture and that will drive the price up for real ones as well as premium N/C's.

Let's say you are in a Habanos Only PIF. You send 5 of your best, but receive a pkg with 2 goodies and 3 obvious fakes. Would you only be disappointed?

Try to handle via PM at first.

Ditto on the PM. If he is an ass, put his name, handle, address, phone number, SSN, etc... all over the place. Nothing pisses me off more than someone trying to burn someone.

i have some cohibas in my humi that i dont know for sure about the authenticity so i dont send them out to anybody. :smt018

a long time ago i used too buy from a certain vendor...his full boxes were good...no problem.
so i trusted him, however in his samplers...25 pc,s or 25 robustos...etc. he had fakes mixed in.
this was in my early yr.s so i wasnt as up too date with these things.
anyway i was in a pif on another board...possibly the same board you speak of.
i had sent out of five cigars 2 fakes..unknown too me at the time.
as it turned out the fine botl notified me as too there being bogus...
i in turn sent him 5 more sticks...so he made out getting 8 habanos instead of 5...also after smoking the fakes while they lacked tripple cappa and were not lcdh or real habanos in a word...they were or did seem to be of cuban origan and he said they were quite good..probably farm smokes. (illegal local cubans)
so in the end i learned and i thank him as i stopped useing the vendor in question..he saved me alot of money and further embarassement....also i made good with him and he too was a happy pappy!
so simply pm the guy and tell him that while your not accussing him of knowingly passing off fakes that you suspect some or all of the cigars he sent are fakes...he just may not know..will make good and thank you in the end.

Well put, it is possible he doesn't know. I know if I were on his end and someone pmed me about it, I would be very grateful and return the favor 10 fold. If it isn't an honest mistake and they are doing this on purpose, I would out him.

Ditto - Plus, if he doesn't know, if it were me, I'd want to check where I got them from so I made sure not to get any from that source again.
