I just saw this on CigarCyclopedia - right now I;m assuming it's all rumor based on the collaborative cigar, but we'll see:

New collaboration coming between La Aurora and Pepin Garcia The cigar-industry rumor mill was working at full throttle late last year after reports of meetings between La Aurora chief Guillermo Leon, Miami Cigar Co. owner Nestor Miranda and the hottest cigar maker on the U.S. market, Pepin Garcia.

Was a distribution deal in the works? Would Garcia’s My Father Cigars be acquired? Those are possibilities for the future, but for now the three will collaborate on a new cigar.

Word is that a new brand to be called “Garcia y Leon” will debut in the fall – possibly in October – with a new blend to be developed by Leon himself but made at My Father Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua. The new cigar will be distributed by Miami Cigar & Co. in the U.S.
The consolidation continues... (or does it?)

Thanks for the info, interesting read.

But I don't buy for one second that Pepin would put his name on a product that he did not help blend himself. Sure his factory makes many cigars for customers like Pete, Holt's, etc, but Pepin's name is not on them. Heck, Pepin even does the blends and still doesn't put his name on it.

I can see him making a cigar for Leon, but not putting his name on it if he doesn't help in the blending.

There is no way The Don is selling MFC. It's more likley that someone either wants him to blend a cigar for them, or manufacture something of theirs.

LOL, They were confused when I told them about this.

Ryan, when you're down here with me you will understand how the blends are put together when it comes to my cigars.

Yeah, I didn't mean for it to sound like you aren't involved with the blending... I know you tell them what you are looking for, what you like and approve of every one of your cigars through trial and error during the blending process. I just meant that the Garcia's are the ones doing the actual blending and rolling the cigars.

Does Pepin do all your blending or does Jaime take the lead on any of them?

But I am definitely looking forward to getting a first hand look and learning more... can't wait!

I'm normally not one to speculate but...

The new blend of Nestor Mirandas - the Dominicano will be blended by Pepin w/ a Dominican wrapper from the same La Aurora farm as the 100 Anos. This is in addition to the new Garcia y Leon collaboration cigar.

Aurora and Pepin are getting very comfortable...

Spectacular... I can't wait to try these new cigars. Aurora and Pepin together -- two of my favorites.

Pepin, Miranda Collaborate on New Cigar

If you've ever asked yourself why you haven't seen a cigar made by Pepin Garcia with Dominican wrapper, the answer is easy: there aren't any. Dominican tobacco was never his medium of choice—until now.
In collaboration with Nestor Miranda, president of Miami Cigar & Co., and Guillermo León of La Aurora S.A., Garcia has made the Nestor Miranda Collection Dominicano, a Nicaraguan cigar with a Dominican cover leaf culled from the same farm that produced the stellar Aurora 100 Años wrapper.

Although the wrapper on the Nestor Miranda Collection Dominicano will be Dominican, the binder and filler tobacco is Nicaraguan. The cigar is being made at Garcia's My Father Cigars factory in Nicaragua.

It's slated for four sizes: Coffee Break, 4 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge; Lancero, 7 1/2 by 40; Robusto Grande, 5 1/2 by 54; and Piramides, 6 1/8 by 52. The cigars will retail for $6.00 to $8.00 and come packaged in boxes of 20, except for the Lancero, which will come in boxes of 25.

the robusto grande sounds like the one to try...sounds good!

Are you planning on getting some?
I like my Pepin cigars and I like my Nestor Miranda cigars, what I'm hoping for is that it will have a similar profile as one of my favorite cigars, the Joya de Nicaragua Serie C. Regreattably that cigar is only available to the European market now.

It had a Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. It was a hardy smoke with a smoothness, thanks to the connecticut wrapper.

So yes, I will definately try them when they are available.
