What a weekend! Lots of clouds and rain but we made up for it with fishing, cigars, and scotch. I was supposed to meet friends down in Homer Friday evening but I decided to get an early start and grab a pic or two on the drive. It started out pretty enough as I was driving along the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet...

...but it started clouding up once I hit the Kenai Peninsula. Still, I was able to get a couple of okay shots, including this fireweed that was blooming like crazy...

There was a lot of wildlife to be seen while we were out...like gulls, murres, loons, and puffins. We even passed by a momma sea otter with her young'n...

I also got to see my first humpback whale breach, blow, and sound. Unfortunately, the action was over before I could get my camera.

Fishing was a little on the tough side but we still didn't do too badly. I caught the big halibut of the boat (35-40 lbs, we figure) and a couple of the silver salmon were real bruisers in the 14-16 lb range. We would've turn that little pink salmon loose but he was gill hooked so we had to keep him. Oh well, he'll make decent salmon dip...

As I was getting ready to come home this morning, there was a short break in the clouds that made for a pretty sunrise, so I made a panorama from my friends' deck...

That's Kachemak Bay and if you look closely, you can see two or three glaciers in the mountains.

I dont know if you are an incredible photographer or just have incredible subject matter. I'm going to say both. Very nice stuff.
