I apologize that I haven’t been much of a Brother lately.

I am spending most of my time and energy trying to find an urgently needed job.
This economy has made job seeking an impossible task, especially here in Los Angeles.

People are suggesting that I “dumb down” my resume, so I can have a better chance at the smaller annual salary that I am willing to accept to stay afloat.

I am doing odd jobs (carpentry, landscaping, etc.) in the neighborhood to create some sort of cash flow. I even created a handyman/gardener flyer, and my daughter and I went around putting them in mailboxes.

Just so hard to keep it together when there has been no solution for almost a year and a half of churning out resumes, networking old contacts, and interviewing.

Just so hard to remain faithful and positive that I can land a job before it’s too late.

Just really sucks.

Prayers and well wishes would be greatly appreciated, Brothers. I will continue to pray and wish for those of you who are in the same boat.

Clint,

Hang in there my brother. It will turn around soon. In the mean time, I'll be praying for you and keeping an ear to the ground in the event I hear of something up your way.

It'll get better bro, it's always darkest before the dawn. I was out of work for almost 2 years once, so I know the feeling.

Clint, I am praying that you will not only find a job but you will find a good, if not, a new career opportunity. Also, that your needs will be provided for until then. Hang in there brother.

Dumbing down your resume might not be a bad idea. I know an AVP who was let go and had a hard time finding a job until he left out some major achievements on his resume...another woman I know worked 17 years for HP as a PM, was layed off, and could not even get a secretary position because she was over qualified. Both of these folks were able to finally find work and took lesser positions but worked their way up quickly. Good luck and God bless you in your search.

Prayers sent to you and your family, I have faith that things will turn around for you. I have been through this with mine and though we're not there by any stretch we are plugging away and trying, doors seem to be opening. I have gone from running a somewhat successful small family business to driving a truck(which I had zero experience). I went from food to construction, strange I know but it's starting to pay the bills and as the season progresses I have hope and faith that more doors will beging to open.

Prayer sent!

I know how you feel as I was there, although the stakes weren't quite as high since I didn't have a family at the time. When the tech sector went down in late 2000/early 2001, I found myself unemployed from a very nice job. Had to move back to my parents, and floated around temp jobs for 2 years. I know how horrible it feels to be a man, and not be able to support yourself fully.

It's in times of trouble where real growth happens.

Please keep us posted!

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfected and complete, lacking nothing.

Keep hunting and something will show up, it may not feel like it but it sounds like you've got the determination, do what you have to do.
