I've never used it but I heard after run oil works well if you're storing the car for the season or not plan on using it for a period of time. I can only imagine how my HPI Firestorm will be since I haven't ran her in at least 3 or 4 years....maybe more....Went to fire it up and it was slow to turn over. The easy start started smoking a lil I sprayed wd 40 into the cylinder last night. Engine was a lil stiff turning it by the crank gear I think im going to lube it again then take a hair dryer to it to warm it up and try again. It sat pprobally a year or two.
Was the engine ever fully broken in? If not that could be why it's tight. Or you just have really tight tolerances, I know the race engine in my late model is that way, I have to store it top dead or when the cylinder cools it shrinks around the piston and its a major bitch to get it turning over..Went to fire it up and it was slow to turn over. Take the plug out then do a wd soak by applying every few hrs over a day or two then get it freed upI've never used it but I heard after run oil works well if you're storing the car for the season or not plan on using it for a period of time. Would've never thought to do that....thanks for the tip!Take the plug out then do a wd soak by applying every few hrs over a day or two then get it freed up
The LSN is the one on the carb slide by the linkage idle should be just under the air filter. Could be a bad glow plug wire I was never a fan of EZ-start. You could also be experiencing vapor lock but using a hand held igniter and it works makes me think it's the wire or EZ-Start. I Always used a bump starter and igniter. We used after run even if The car sit for a day. Good insurance on high dollar mod motors. It was broken it already. So here's where im at. When I first went to start the ez start motor was smoking a lil. I chalked it up to the cat hair on it from prior owner. Or engine slightly seized from long term storage. I took plug out and sprayed some wd 40 in it . Got it to spin over really well by hand then with the starter then I put the plug back in. If I held the easy start controller where only the motor light lit it it would turn over easy and spin quickly if I held it where it lit the motor and glow plug light it wouldnt turn over at all. I unhooked the plug wire and used a glow igniter and it turned over pretty quickly but wouldn't hit. So im wondering if A my ez start battery is almost shot from storage and B if I need a carb adjustment. I found the factory setting for the hsn but not the lsn. And in the owners manuel its saying the lsn adjustment is on the side of the carb barrel and the the idle adjustment is the small screw sticking up by throttle inlet which seems backwards to me. Im so close to having this thing running its driving me nutz!
Always good to start at factory settings. Idle should adjust the gap.If engine is gummed up, pour some nitro in it, should resolve residue. Set the carb back to default and get some extra glow plugs. Sorry, I haven't read everyones suggestions..![]()
