I have about the same amount of lawn and I just push it. I had a self propelled, but it just wasn't fast enough. And I still smoke as I push mow.

I would avoid the big box store on a purchase of this size. Down the road if you have issues they won't be much help, but the mom and pop shop will do wonders because they will value your business.

That being said...get a Cub.
