I'm in the middle on viaje. I've really enjoyed some and didn't like others.
They can knock it out of the park. Or totally whiff. A lot of their stuff seems young and needs to be put to rest for a while to be enjoyed.
These are my thoughts as well. Most need time (1-2yr) to shine. I wouldn't buy more than a couple to try before committing to a box. But when they are on, oh baby...

I'm in the middle on viaje. I've really enjoyed some and didn't like others. Burn issues with most.

I'd say the zombie black, zombie red, and cache were my faves. Cache was a huge surprise for me. Very rich and chocolatey.

Others I've had have needed multiple fixes and relights which is annoying especially since some of those have had great flavors starting up.

I truly think if they fix the burn/construction issues then they will gain some heavy steam.
My experiences with Viaje have been exactly the same. 9 times out of 10 the flavors are better than good but more often than not I'll have construction issues. The stronger stuff, your Zombies and Skull & Bones, I'd definitely dry box for a while before smoking.

The Exclusivo line is my favourite, generally tend to have better luck with the burn as well.

The more recent stuff like the WLP, Cache and Collaboration is showing good signs for more but like everyone else has said, they'll need some time before they reach their optimum.

As an aside has anyone tried any of this years Satori release? I had an Arya and the burn genuinely made me laugh it was that bad and for an $8 stick that is pretty shameful.

I like a handful of their stuff, but like the majority, if you sit on them a year or until that lines next release they can be good, but there is that "patented" Viaje burn that I always encounter.

Full Moon, Antidote, Skull&Bones, Candy Cane, Super Shots are all tasty, always age Viaje about 6 months, and sometimes dry box a little to get them to burn right. Viaje has actually been pretty darn good this year, they are hit & miss though for sure, do your homework. That being said, most of their cigars are rarely discounted and are definitely premium priced, and there are an awful lot of great cigars at the $8-10 range.

3 words: Holiday Blend 2009
With only 3,000 sticks produced, wouldn't it be near impossible to procure this one?
Possibly. You never know who has what until you ask. You can always put up an ISO!
Exactly why I have a Barclay Rex ISO right now....You just never know :)

I was lucky enough to get a tip on a retailer with half a box of the '09 Holiday a few years ago.

Honey and Hand grenades with over 2 years of age are phenomenal. Most other Viajes I have had have been mediocre. The Skull and Bones i tried I pitched after 10 minutes - It was awful

I'll be really interested to see, if Andre continues to use TABSA, if the constructions issues get better. The blends I've had that came out of there this year like the Cache and the Collaboration actually burnt really well. Maybe we'll see a greater proportion made there in the future...or it could just be me

Saw a post earlier regarding my local b&m Famous Smoke Shop. Looks like they are currently running a promo on "Build Your Own" Viaje samplers. From the list provided they seem to carry many of the hard-to-gets... Might just be the perfect introduction to the Viaje line for you!

I've only smoked the Skull n Bones and Late Harvest Hang Time. Two of each. I enjoyed them very much. One Hang Time had some burn issues, but that's what my torch is for.

Never had a viaje that didn't have construction problems. Gave up on them long ago
I completely agree. They've always had contruction issues when I've smoked them and some just fall apart like they're dried out to the bone or something. I gave up on them.

I find them hit or miss, Skull and Bones, Exclusivo unleaded, I really liked them, Plantino, Oro, C-4, & TNT were okay, summerfest was horrid. What I realized after trying a bunch was I didnt think they were a good value. For the price I was paying I could have been smoking a tatuaje 10th anniversary.

I will say for me it has been hit and miss, luckily for me Ive actually never experience construction problems but I have experienced some serious batch variations. Some sticks are just too harsh for me, but ive had a few that are absolute gems and staples and favorites of my collection. They will certainly be a brand I continue to try but I go in knowing I might get a stick I cant smoke to the nub.
