Hopefully they were decent sticks and not crap sticks as that would really piss me off if I get a bomb and have to pay the postage due for an idiot that can't calculate postage correctly and then there be a bunch shit I don't want in the box. I would definitely return fire with a box of RP and Gurkhas with postage due. :)

Recently. If someone is under the misguided concept that they can send a package "media rate" which is a reduced rate for books and periodicals they need to know that all such packages may be opened for inspection and if they are not media, charged the higher additional postage. So, the P.O. opens the box, see the cigars, kicks the box around the office a few times because it pisses em off when someone tries to cheat them, close the box half way, slap some tape on it and postage due. Then they send you a little note to come pick it up and pay the postage due.

That happens as well.

I say if he does it a third time you have two choices:

A) send him a weekly box full of rocks, postage due

B) publicize his name so we can ALL send him a postage-due bomb at the same time

Either one of those two actions will guarantee no repeat of the offense.

I am all for skirting the rules to get a head a bit, but come on...to save $3, and cause the package to take 2 weeks to arrive? (my experience with media mail). The USPS is going out of business soon enough we don't need to drive it into the ground while we're at it.

If the person knows about it and has an attitude because you asked him, I'd out him to prevent this from happening to anyone else on the BOTL.
Really not a good thing. I don't want this place to lose its class!

It happens when you put non flat rate postage on a flat rate box, then you will get a bill for the rest. I think it was said opposite of this above.

I don't really think they should be "outed" on a thread like this. I would just leave a trader rating stating exactly what happened.

Sometimes it's difficult to interpret tone over the internet - either of you may have interpreted a 'tone' that may not have been there - you would know better than I - hopefully this miss-communication is settled & you two can walk away with a learning experience.

I often send out non-usps boxes because they are far superior quality & I don't want the sticks I'm sending to get damaged - however, I don't use 'click-n-ship' because the PO is convenient to my daily routine, so I swing by, they weigh it & I pay it.

If ever, there was a 'postage due' I would hope that someone would tell me! I would be embarrassed personally - but I would take care that it would not happen again.

Any other arrangement should be communicated between the trading parties - everybody is real easy-going & understanding here - so for anybody new or worried, just try to remember that communication is key!

Sorry for the situation - if all else fails - it's your botl-responsibility/duty to leave an honest trader rating!

The problem with that is that when you see their name and a TR of 40 you think good guy. You don't always go and see his ratings if he has a neg or if he had someone state something like this.

A high TR only means high quantity, not quality. I also think that 3-6 months down the road there's a better chance of someone seeing a neg. TR than seeing this thread.

Mistakes can happen but a person should own up to it and try to rectify so it wouldn't happen again. My post office tells me this happens alot with the size box your refering too...which is why I mail mine threw the USPC so I don't make that mistake.

A guy bombs you with say $30-$35 in sticks and you have to pay $2.00 postage and you would give him a bad trader rating? Tough crowd. :scratchhe

I was thinking he same thing Chuck.

However if a trade or buy was worked out, i would think differently. After 1 time, no big deal if it kept happening, I just wouldn't deal with him anymore.

The problem is that the individual is using a "non flat rate" box and using the internet for the postage. When the USPS gets it, the add the additional postage and request it from the receiver. It's a matter of the shipper paying attention and using the correct packaging. If you're not sure of the package size when using USPS online, then take it to the post office.

I am sure it's not intensional, but more ignorance and laziness related.

That's my take.
