We have almost the same color of carpeting and we have the same problem...and we have a cleaning lady come in weekly so the house is kept pretty clean...from what I understand, after having our carpets proffessionally cleaned, is that it is just accumulated household dust that collects where the vacuum can't reach to get it out...but, I may be wrong...
