Are you given annual sick days at your job? If so, do they carry over to the following year? How many do you have?

We are given 7 a year and they carry over. I currently have 518 hours of sick leave built up which equals 74 sick days. When I top out at 120 days, they start paying me for each one over that amount that is not used.

5 sick days. Cannot carry them over. I use them as mental health days as the year goes on if I have not actaully been sick.

Well crap, at least you have them to take...with summers off on top of that...well, off if you don't help out.
I'm only off for 1 month.

School ends around June 12. Teachers report back around August 12.

They put me on the clock each July to help out the 2 custodians pull all the furniture out of every room, help rewax the floors, and gently put that furniture back in. It doesn't sound all that exciting but:

1. I would go bonkers with 2 months off
2. They are stupid enough to pay me as a 14 year custodian since that is how long I have been teaching. That comes out to be something like 18 bucks an hour to move shit around.

I have PTO (paid time off) that includes all kinds of time off - sick time, vacation and holiday hours. I currently build about 260 hours a year of PTO. I can call in sick 2 days per quarter without a problem, more than that and the manager pulls you aside.

Unlimited with supervisors approval for sickness or personal Dr visits. Approval hasn't been a problem in over 5 years for me. I have had some that work for me use sick days for things other than being sick. If caught, it gets ugly.

No sick time for me. My job is horrible when it comes to benefits/vacation/sick time etc. No sick time on top of only matching 15 percent 401k and it takes 5 years to build 2 weeks vacation. It's pretty horrible. Hopefully I'll find something better soon.....like winning the lottery.
