Hello all, new member here but not to forums. Saw a link to this forum from a truck forum I'm on (355nation.net) and thought I would check it out.

Fairly new to cigars so all info is welcomed. I will be checking out all the links in the intro thread and be asking a lot of questions.

Thanks for the welcomes.

I've found that I like the Rocky Patels and EL Baton the best but I'm always willing to try different sticks. I never really know what to look for when buying them so I kind of stick to the same brand and just look for the different labels on them. I've also tried a few Romeo & Juliet's and wasn't too fond of them.

Is there a thread here that explains how to store them and what are the different kinds of storing methods? I've seen a few threads that talk about them but nothing that breaks each down and describes what's best for each person. Right now I'm just using a box that I got from the cigar shop I go to.

Yeah I've been going through that just too new to understand it all at once. lol

What's a Bovedas? Why do you use a cooler? Is a small cigar box okay? I'm going through this thread right now, http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showthread.php/8917-A-Coolidor-Primer but what's the different between a coolidor and Humidor other then the obvious, one cools and one keep it humid.

Sorry, lot's of newbie questions.

No worries we were al where you were at one time.
Bovedas are a pack that humidifies your cigars.
A coolidor is a cooler that you use to hold cigars. They hold a good seal making them cheap and easy to store a larger amount of cigars. A lot of brother here use them. It actually doesn't keep them any cooler then a normal humidor, just a great inexpensive way to store a lot of cigars.

A small cigar box will work fine as long as you have means of humidification in there and the top makes a good seal. I wouldn't recommend this for long term.
Hope this helps

So storing them in a mini fridge would be better than those cheap cigar boxes? Should I put them in a zip loc in the fridge or just in there all together would be fine?

Also, I'm seeing a lot of threads about beetles. Where do they come from? I mainly buy from Tobacco shops around my area since I have a lot of them around me, should I worry about it? Do they mainly form from personal stashes that aren't wrapped from factory's, all mine I buy are still in the package. Also when I buy them I generally smoke them right away, I really don't store them long. Should I not do that?

Dude, welcome from San Diego!

Skip the cigar box and do this:

---> 1 large Clean tupperware
---> one large 69% boveda pack from your local shop
---> cigars

Dunzo!

This will hold you over until you read through everything.

I have to echo what Sean said. Do this, and you'll start off great!

Welcome to the brotherhood! :waving:

Welcome to botl brother! a coolidor is just called that because it is a humidor made from a cooler. Same with a tupperdore. Which is what Sean rightly suggested. A Boveda pack is a little package that controls humidity and keeps your cigars stored without the drying out. Beetles eggs are on all cigars. They are naturally on the tobacco leaves. But they hatch and cause a problem when your humidity and temperature are over 70% and 70 degrees roughly. Storing them in a cigar box is okay for a few days but without proper storage they will get dry and crack and be a pain to smoke. Hope I answered some of your questions. Feel free to message me anytime if you have an questions. Oh! And welcome from a Botl that just moved from SoCal to Arizona!
