Hello family,

Okay, so over the past few months I’ve had the opportunity to get some quality cigars (well, quality to me as we all have different ideas/definition of quality). That when Its time to smoke, I don’t really want to smoke them and pick something else. lol What I’m I saving it for? Idk really. Just don’t think “today” qualified for a special occasion.

I told myself I wasn’t in it to collect, but was in it to smoke them. Well, for the past few days I just look at them and move on to the next.

What are some of your special occasion cigars (post those pics if possible)?

What are you saving them for?

I think I need to go and talk to someone about my issues lol.

Have a wonderful day, and let’s see those sticks.

What if something tragic happens and you're gone tomorrow? You'll never get to experience whatever "that" particular smoke is (if you've never had it before). Pull out your good shit and smoke it! That's what you got it for. If you can afford to buy a super premium stick, in my opinion, you can afford to light it on fire. Who knows, it may taste like ass and you'll be glad you didn't save it for a special event anyway!! That's all just my opinion. Whatever you decide to light up, I hope it's great!

I don’t have any HTF cigars anymore. Almost everything I have is reg production.

I do have a small selection of aged Cubans (10-15 yrs) I’ve collected over the years. I’ll pull one out for special occasions or vacations, etc. I add to it when I come across a small private sale or something, or when something from my own stash started getting up there in years.

Then, I have a box for my wedding anniversary (6/2005) that I smoke from every June, and a box each for all the kids’ birth months/years. I start smoking them annually starting on their 6th birthday (I get to dig into a box of 2012 PSD5 in July when my middle kid turns 6!), and the plan is to smoke with them on their birthdays from 18-21, then give them the remaining fiver on their 21st birthday. If after the first one, the girls decide they don’t want to smoke them, I’ll give the remaining cigars to their husbands on their wedding day.

I will hang onto a handful of cigars and smoke them as a reward to myself, especially after a really shitty week or day...something of that nature. For the most part though, I just grab what my mood pushes me towards. That and how much time I have to smoke; ie I'm not grabbing a toro if I have less than an hour to enjoy it.

I've got a few things on hand for occasions, like the stuff I bought when my daughter was born. But aside from that, all my high ends, LEs and HTFs are free game whenever the mood hits me... The thing is though, that I'm a cheap bastid, and I always put the ballin sticks back to grab a CH or something instead.. lol

I typically believe in "smoke em if ya got em", but I find these hard to fire up without some significance. Here are a couple of my special occasion sticks, most of them are pretty old haha. I typically will smoke one on birthdays, or my buddies birthdays who appreciate a good cigar. (Those zombies are first release from the line, I think 2011?)

Take it from a hobbyist of 50 years....we can get caught up in the "collecting" the best cigars and saving them for some future date and that is a habit I had to break away from. Some premiums just don't measure up over a certain time frame while some do. There are exceptions to the rule and with experience we find where the sweet spot is and that means knowing the history of certain brands and when they are at their best. Saving cigars as it turns out ( for me anyway ) is a mistake because anything can happen on any given day and then all of that waiting for the perfect day/time could be over because of a host of issues....health, accidental ruination, your G/F....or ex wife goes into your humidor and crushes and ruins your stash because she's p'd off at you ( had this happen ) so enjoy today what might not be there tomorrow. You're not guaranteed tomorrow and barely guaranteed today...live your best life and enjoy what's available. Analogy....those hearses you see at the Graveyards aren't pulling U Haul trailers...if they could talk they'd tell you to enjoy what you have now and celebrate. Worse thing I can imagine is my wife being with some d-bag after Im gone smoking my prized cigars....the idea brings me to my knees in anger.

Yeah I don't put stock in the special occasion cigars thing...I mean some cigars are def fit for special occasions more than others I'll Grant you, but at the same time I'll smoke anything anytime if I feel like smoking something good only reason a stick should be off the elligible smoking list is if it needs sleep before it reaches it's full potential
