I was playing humidor Tetris today, cleaning, reorganizing..etc.

I bought a box of Blacks at their release, I gifted one at some point and still have not smoked one myself.

With some advice from others, I decided to untube the Blacks and Reds...I pulled two and put them in my main humi and didn't pay attention at first as I filled out the tray...Then I made a double take and saw this:

So then I untubed the rest of the box, put those two above into the box and shot these.

I know there's color variation and it's natural product and perfection is impossible but has anyone seen this much (much more on the left side of the box)?

I have noticed a lot of wrapper variation among cigars in general. Check out this pic of some of my Noellas:

2 Reservas, 2 regular Noellas, I put them in order of decreasing wrapper color (L-R):

I would think that when they put them in tubes for some reason they dont keep the batch together. I have seen often same cigars from different box's have different color wrappers.

I wish! The box date is July '09 ... so probably not. I did wonder if they might have had some leftover Reserva wrappers, though, and just put them on the regular Noella w/out the Reserva bands. There is no "Reserva" sticker or anything else unusual about the box or cigars--just that the wrappers are unusually dark (even darker than some of my Reservas, as the picture shows!). Or maybe Pepin is just dying his sticks now:rolling:

All cigars will have some wrapper variations. That is why they sort them at the factory and then box like shaded wrappers together. This is very common.

Don't forget CAO, Alex Bradley, La Gloria Cubana, Carlos Torano, Xikar, etc.. Sadly, not only Rocky Patel are practicing these, IMO, false marketing tactics. I'm not a FAN at all.

Pepin has enough awesome tobacco to not have to do that BS, lol.

And Padron, don't forget the #1 cigar of '07 the DYED Padron 80th!

I imagine that the cigars being in tubes, and using a binder leaf for the wrapper could lead to more than average wrapper color variations...

I think they probably weren't as worried about matching colors because they were being packed into tubes. I always figured the shade-matching was for the presentation more than anything else

That's what I was thinking about the Black Tubos as well ... maybe that's one of the reasons why it's considered binder-quality? That and the fact that instead of a beautiful woman it looks like Leatherface. Speaking of which ... maybe Pete will use this wrapper for the next Monster!

Originally Tubos in CC form were used to disguise lower quality and color wrappers in all marcas. At least thats what I read. Not saying thats what Pete is doing but if there in the Tube taken out 1 at a time color wont be a issue.
