Here you go. A quote from the man himself.
Tatuaje started in 2003 with a single line rolled in very small numbers in Miami and thanks to all of you, has grown into a portfolio of brands that I am very proud of. Over these last 13 years, I have produced many limited release cigars, including national, regional, organization specific releases like the TAA, and single store exclusives. Many of these projects, especially the single store exclusives, have been creative and collaborative efforts that have enriched the brand and hold very fond memories. Due to the continuing growth of the My Father Cigars factory, constraints on production and scheduling has caused me to revisit the number of limited releases that I can do well. I also want to renew the focus on my core portfolio of Tatuaje and L’Atelier brands, which means I am putting a hiatus on doing any single store releases and spending even more time in Esteli. This will impact scheduling of production at the factory as I further improve the availability of our core brands. There is plenty in the works for 2016 including the release of La Verite, a full line of Tatuaje Private Reserve (Black Label), a limited run of Skinny Monsters, the next Monster release, and many more from both Tatuaje and L’Atelier.
I know that this will be received by some as great news and by others with disappointment, both from the retail and the consumer side. We are in a period of the industry where limited releases have become the new “small batch” production. I am not ignoring that. I look at our portfolio of brands and know that there is something very special for every consumer out there and each of them is meant to be boutique. Each brand in the Tatuaje/L'Atelier portfolio is still boutique and produced in very small numbers in relation to the industry and that is the message that I want to concentrate on by focusing on our core lines. You will still see limited productions and regional releases that will augment our portfolio but you will also see a renewed focus by my team to help you build our mutual relationship. It is this relationship with each retailer that launched Tatuaje on the path that has progressed from a humble six sizes to a portfolio of nearly one hundred and fifty facings over many brands. With the FDA threatening regulations, it is even more timely to go back to our roots and show our support of all of our retailers and the entire cigar community collectively.
This past year, I was on the road with K.C., Dan, and Sean visiting accounts and attending events with your customers. Listening to retailers and consumers has been key to building the Tatuaje/L'Atelier brands and is something I take very personally. With this renewed focus, I will not be on the road as much this year, but you will see even more of K.C., Dan and, Sean as they represent all of the brands. Together with our sales reps, retailers, and consumers, we are sure to make 2016 an historic year.
Thank you for all your years of continued support.
Looking forward to 2016,
Pete Johnson
