So I have had a few of these now and really like them.
That is to say the first and second third.
The last third always gets bitter for me.
What other sticks taste like these?
Thanks.

Agreed on blowing out on the cigar.
If a cigar gets bitter and a little damp towards the final third, I snip off another 1/4" off the head. That almost always improves the smoke.
Unless it's a crappy cigar. :) But I agree.

Second the Sungrown version, far better smoke IMHO. Also I find Cameroon wrappers can cause a bitter taste.

why would they have a funky smell?
I wasn't going to ask....I just thought it was more about the tars and stains you end up with on the cutter from snipping a damp cigar that has been smoked for a while. Personally, I never smell my cutter. Just a personal thing.:)

I clipped a cigar that was burning and it smelled like rotten ashtray afterwards. I could smell it sitting on my shelf from five feet away. I never used that cutter again. (Same thing with my redeemer.) I don't even want to think about how that smell would make my next cut taste.

Then use a cheap cutter for the trim. I can't tell you how many cigars trimming the head on the final third salvaged the smoke of a good cigar. Sometimes I end up cutting it two or three more times. But as @sofc said, it doesn't help a cigar that just bitter/bad.
And I definitely agree with trying the sungrown version, as I mentioned to @pippin when we were discussing the Chateaus. Adds a whole lot of flavor to the cigar. I still pick up a sungrown Chateau once in a while.

Yep, what he said. I've got a box marinating in the cooler right now. Such a great smoke!
I think I have one left from a 2010 box. Might have to look for it. Don't smoke Fuente much other than CF CGs.

I go back and forth on Fuente. Such solid smokes. I know what I'm going to get when I take a Fuente out of the humi, and I like that. I get caught up in the latest and greatest boutique blends, but then I smoke a Fuente and I'm back on that train for a while.
