Considering you are buying 12 cigars total, how bout a horizontal tasting instead of a lot more of his products?

Personally I think those may be the worst of Don Pepin rather than the best, but that's me...

May I instead suggest some Tats, My Father Le Bijou, Jaime Garcias, Tabacos Baez for the best from DPG?

I'm with Zen. those are not the best of DPG, but are solid cigars. The blue is good, the rest, just ok.

Thanks everyone for your inputs i figured someone would say yea they are the worst I pretty much new that these are more likely his best sellers or cheaper ones maybe? I went ahead and jumped on them to get me a good start. I would like to try Tats, My Father Le Bijou, Jaime Garcias, Tabacos Baez here soon also this is just a start I am sure i will be looking for other dpg cigars. i love choices and learning to pick out the best but to me some brands just have so many different ones it gets over loading. that is why i never tried dpg or cao or Gurkha I did have my try with rocky but damn got tired of trying to pick favorites. lately i just been smoking monticristo media noche and joya's antions and been keeping it simple

I don't like the blues as much as I like some of his other stuff. I haven't tried the My Fathers, Le Reqs, El Triunfadors and the Jaimie Garcias to name a few. The ones I have tried and love are the Tat Reserva J21, Tat Havana VI Victorias and the Don Pepin Blacks. I'm smoking my first Ambros Mundos right now with the Habano wrapper and like it for a cheaper smoke. It's not as dynamic and flavorful as the other lines but is overall a tasty stick.

You should enjoy that sampler I keep most of those on hand for when I am undecided on what to smoke. They never let me down for the price fine cigars.

Sometimes I get obsessed by the whole "best" thing. That sampler is a GREAT start. You will appreciate them even more, not less, when you start moving up the brand/quality ladder. I wonder whether I could truly appreciate and understand what a good and/or great cigar is without smoking some good and bad ones? While my experience and palate are just starting to turn a corner and I am able to experience and appreciate on a deeper level, I am grateful for every smoke. How else does one get there?

Taste and likes aside, which is a whole other thread, how many people on here would know the difference between and exceptional cigar and a once in a decade release that will stand as a benchmark to the brand or style? Does it even matter?

I relish my first sticks and what they have taught me, maybe especially the bad ones. :)
