I prefer to call this endeavor "The Hunt".

When I get low on something I really like, I find it however I must....at the price I'm willing to pay...and that (the hunt) can be very satisfying for me.

And it isn't usually expensive stuff.....I'm still looking for a "cheap" smoke that I absolutely loved from the early 1990's.

Not much into it. I much prefer what's easy to come by. Too broke to afford the exclusives, and too lazy to keep up with the trends.

I'll chase from time to time but luckily its been easy going as of late, mainly because there are so few things worth chasing IMO. The last thing I went after was the Lirio Rojo and @warpedcigars chimed in and let me know exactly who to call, so that was easy. The last true chase I had was when the UF-13s dropped and that was a while back and the results weren't really worth it. I figure if I can post up here and someone can help me out with my search then I'm in, if it involves blindly calling dozens of stores, then fuck that shit. Those days are done for me. I can't even imagine what a pain in the ass it must've been to try to find the Le Vignobles, that whole deal was a complete bunch of garbage and I failed to see the point.

I am on the fence about this as I have chased things only fro find out it was hype and I have paid above MSRP for sticks that absolutely got my socks rolling up and down. Nowadays, I will chase sticks from brands that I feel are must haves. However, the determining factor is my inventory and my budget.

I've found that as I've gotten further into cigars over the last few years I've made enough friends/contacts etc that most things aren't a chase.

There are cigars that are regular production that I buy boxes and boxes of because they taste good, and I smoke the hell out of them.

There are cigars that are regular, exclusive, regional or any other categorization that I buy multiple boxes of because they are from a company that I support down to the bone. I smoke the hell out of them.

Then there are cigars that I buy that are both. I smoke the hell out of them.

It's probably more accurate to say I 'chase' EVERYTHING a couple of companies release, and a FEW limiteds that everyone else releases. I'm not immune to the itch for exclusivity... but I find that I'm more motivated by consistency, loyalty, and quality in every aspect of a company, rather than solely exclusivity. Luckily.... I am blessed enough that I don't have to choose between one or the other very often.

It's rare that I chase - typically I smoke the standard production cigars and my budget while respectable isn't huge. Spending over $15/stick is an incredibly uncommon occurrence and when I do chase it certainly isn't the ultra rare stuff. That being said, I made 9-10 visits to B&Ms in the past 2 months just trying to get my hands on CH Yellow Rose and all together in the past month I've tracked down and picked up 7 boxes of less common cigars. Noting crazy expensive or super rare, just stuff like Tatuaje Hyde and CH Angels Anvil.

Like any hobby some people will find one aspect more fun than another. For me kicking back, relaxing and enjoying a fine cigar with a glass of beer is the enjoyment, not the chase and not the collection.

hmm...i love limited edition sticks and the idea of rarity as long as they aren't way over the top price wise and they're no impossible to get.
the tat monsters or TAA stuff are good examples...this was my first year of smoking, but i like the idea of a once a year (like halloween) release where you can get the normal box pretty easily and they stay in online shops for more than a day before being sold out.

The chase gets old. I like my core brands and their reg production stuff. If I have the funds and the itch I'll bite but recently it's been too much to keep up with.
I hear that. After all the releases the past 2 years Im burnt out on the constant next new thing all the time. I like LEs and pick up the ones that catch my interest but Ive had to pass on a lot of stuff as of late because the number of new releases has gotten overwhelming at this point. I'd rather see more regular production blends and additions of new regular production vitolas.

I don't really care about rare or exclusive as much as I care about the taste and enjoyment of the cigar. I wouldn't buy a cigar that was exclusive unless I enjoyed it. I don't really want something so rare that I have to talk myself into smoking it. I am all about flavor, enjoyment and consumption.

I don't chase as there's plenty to enjoy without all the hassle and expense that comes with it. One bird in hand is better than two in the bush....
