I prefer not to become emotionally ingrained or risk irrationality and expectation with these things. Regardless of what we do, we are outnumbered and met with illegitimate research to counter our interests. This being said, it comes of no surprise that our liberty with this blend of leaf is shrinking. To believe we can halt the incoming tide is inherently false, all that can be done is to slow it.

If cigarettes were banned and made illegal, it is possible differentiation could be argued moreopenlt, but such a thing brings revenue and so the banning in public places will continue without differentiation, and the attitudes and responses of the critics against such regulations will be harshly judged by onlookers and the general public.

We all knew this was a fleeting interest when we got into it, no one can honestly say they expected the partaking of toxic substances to be a permitted thing forever.

Wow, that is a rather bleak outlook. Leave snowy Michigan for a few days, come out here to sunny AZ and we'll smoke some cigars and cheer you up bro.

I for one, can for sure honestly say that I fully expect to be "allowed" to smoke cigars for as long as I feel like.

Yeah, I don't know many people that fully expect to forfeit their individual freedoms.

It's attitudes like that that allow lobby groups to steamroll over citizens.

Well this is just ridiculous, and I have been meaning to join the CRA. I figured I should since it fights for the rights of something that I love to do; one of the reasons I am a NRA Life Member. Anyway, now after this, I am going to.
Oh and in the original thread and other responses where it says to write/call your local rep. That is exactly what to do. If they get enough calls, they will probably stop. It happened last year when I bunch of “lawmakers” in CO wanted to infringe even more on the 2nd Ammendment, and of course they were going to vote on it late Sunday night when they thought no one would notice, they were inidated with calls/email/etc.. and so they then cancelled the bill.
And some great statements about personal freedoms; they will use something like smoking in restaurants where you bring your kids and that is why the kids are sick and have asthma (I am sure it has nothing to do with pollution). Then they take it step farther, and farther, and then all of the sudden its 1984 and people go, “how did we get here” and the answer is that the Sheeple never woke up.
Let's just hope this bill is killed soon, it may not be my state, but that stuff spreads like wildfire.

Our thought is, if we have to deal with this whole Winter thing, we may as well deal with it where the landscape is beautiful. Also, as a photographer, it would be nice to be somewhere other than Illinois...

My father-in-law and his wife live in between Denver and Aurora. The main issue is that, if we move there, my mother-in-law and her husband would move too because they don't want to be away from their grandkids. Having those two within 100 miles of each other... well, matter meets anti-matter.

Although, if I tell her that we're moving to Wyoming and then, after they've moved, I say "oops, I meant Colorado" then that could work out.

I really like Denver and Boulder but my wife is a commercial real estate appraiser: Illinois and Colorado don't have reciprocity for appraisal licenses, so she's have to go through that process again.

Illinois is the worst bloody state when it comes to stuff like that.

I got my license revoked from IL. Called explained in military and can't come back to pay fines or attend class. So I had to pay a huge fee for being out of state. take a Wyoming driving class. Pay another fee. And then take a online test.

Then I call....

I ask if I'm good to go.

"Ya just come in and get a new license."

I can't... I'm In wyoming. I deploy in a week.

Oh well you have to come in and get a new one.

Sweet. Funk you I'm changing my residence to wyoming.

Also. IL is one of few states that don't allow a military member to have an expired license be valid as long as it's presented with a valid military ID.

I don't miss IL. At all.

Also tolls. Those suck.

I hear ya - and regardless of anyone's political persuasion, this state is in such a mess. I love Chicago but, living in the burbs, I hate *getting* to Chicago. I either have to take the train in and be held captive to their really weird evening schedules (it's a commuter line for workers, not to help tourism) or drive and fight traffic/find parking/pay for parking/risk getting a ticket for any number of stupid violations.

In any given week, there are stories in the paper of people who got tickets on their car for illegally parking. There is no sign saying they can't, but there WAS a sign that got removed/stolen. Because there WAS a sign, they got a ticket.

And I wouldn't mind the tolls so much if it was actually possible to drive a decent speed on it or not put your car in danger from the crumbling concrete.

Toll roads are usually maintained by a non state company..when I go to Texas the toll road I take is in way better shape than the interstate it's a shame that your toll roads aren't properly maintained

Driving in Wyoming is such a peaceful thing. No one is over aggressive. Roads are well maintained. Oh ya. And no state taxes or tolls.

But when I went home it was like a switch got flipped. Driving was so stressful. When I went to a blackhawks game and tried to leave the united center I had to physically get out of the vehicle and block traffic so my wife could merge. Since no one would let us in for over fifteen minutes

Here in Illinois, the Tollway is an independent agency. In Canada, we would call it a crown corporation - although it's owned by the government, it's operated like a business.

You're making it sound better and better. I wonder if Wyoming has reciprocity. Or if my wife's firm has an office she could transfer to...

Keep in mind. I'm NOT a photographer. I just own a DSLR

But this is all within an hour of me.

My buddies families cabin in the mountains is my favorite place in the entire world.

I complain about living here constantly. But it's honestly the best place I've ever been

Besides, I need a reason to wear my cowboy hat that doesn't include the word "ironic"
I actually used to work on a horse ranch and we trained and bred Arabians. I do some work out here with horses when i can. I'll wear my boots but you'll never see me with a cowboy hat on. Because so many people here wear it as a fashion statement but couldn't tell a saddle from reigns.
