I wonder where they got their original info that he would go on TV to make the announcement. Sounds like maybe the golf channel jumped the gun or somebody passed TGC some bum information and they cancelled the press conference when they found out he wasn't coming.
The whole thing seems very unlike Tiger unless it was something huge, like he was retiring or something.

He got all the endorsement deals because he was on pace to be the greatest golfer of all time. I don't think he ever really liked the attention it got him.

Tiger has never really seeked the spotlight. He never gives anything to the reporters in interviews and is rarely seen outside of the golf course in his personal life, so I don't see it.

I agree with you though, I don't think he cared too much for all the attention his sucess brought him. But he had to know that his quest to be the greatest would have him under a microscope, it comes with the territory.
