Had some Old Elk Infinity Blend.

I’m not in love with it and it’s been open for quite some time. I won’t replace it when it’s finally gone.

Had some OF King Ranch tonight with our good friends for my wife’s birthday. This is one of my favorite recent acquisitions. If you have a chance to get one, pick it up, you won’t be disappointed.

And you’re cracking it open when?

Last night I cracked it open Brian. Two pours, one neat and one with 2-3 drops of water. This one seems to be a winner with an outstanding neck pour. Molasses, caramel and oak on the palate. Cinnamon and then dark fruit on the long finish. A big test is how it is after 3 weeks of being open, will it be just good or will it open up into being great? I have some high hopes for this one after the last couple years have kind have been a mixed bag for Booker's.

I bought the latest (VI) Remus Repeal Reserve a few weeks ago planning to use it for trade purposes. Couldn't get a trade for it locally, even for less expensive bottles. So I tried to sell it, and no one would even give me the reatil price I paid. So I said "F it" and opened it, I'll save the great one (V) for later. This one ain't bad, and I don't have any other BiB bourbons open right now.

I had a little taste of each of these last night. Each provided a memorable note. The Copper Sky provided a tobacco note,,, now I’ve tasted tobacco in several whiskeys ( Booker’s Kentucky Chew comes to mind), but never anything like this. Red Man Loose Leaf, Man. It was crazy. Either I’m super-tasting tonight or I’m more wasted than I thought.

With the MM, it was burnt movie theater popcorn. I know that’s really specific, and you’d think it would be unpleasant, but it wasn’t. In conjunction with the sweetness of the wheated bourbon, it worked. Probably m second favorite of the MM biannual releases.
