Took a break from work and walked to the B&M for a Padron 1964 Principe maduro and some good conversation with a few of the regulars.

Tried to smoke an Oliva Master Blends 3 Torpedo tonight, and it was unsmokeable.

The burn was terrible - one side didn't seem to want to burn at all, while the other side was just flying down, yet there was very little smoke.

The ash was black, flaky, and would fall after 1/4".

Flavour was just bitter grass and dirt.

It's in the same humidor as my other smokes, and was kept there for 3 months at a consistent 65/65.

I sincerely hope this isn't indicative of the line, and I just had a fluke experience.

That was awful. I smoked 1/3 of it and threw it away because it was giving me a sore stomach.

That sucks, but it sounds like you just got a bad stick. If you have another, give it a try. If not, I'm sure you'll get one at some point. They are worth a 2nd try.

I feel like I've been having a lot of flukes from the upper-echelon companies.

2 Liga Privada's, a PDR, and now an Oliva MB3.

This is frustrating :hanghead:

Just started into a Bolivar Royal Corona from Jan '10. Very good already... plenty of roasted nuts including hazelnut and walnut, there is espresso... have a fair bit of it to smoke yet.

While it is coming along, I think just a tad bit more age will help it out quite a bit.
