This weekend I tried a Panacea Red Habano robusto. I just received a 4-pack last week and I was anxious to give them a try. I paired the cigar with a glass of Four Roses Single Barrel, also an acquisition from last week, & I was fairly impressed by both the bourbon and the cigar.
I really wanted to like this cigar, as I am always looking for something a little different from what everyone else is smoking, and I was not disappointed. I found it to have a nice earthy taste, which I like, and a little hint of natural sweetness. A few grassy notes snuck in to the flavor a few times, leading me to believe that this tobacco may be just a little bit young. I suspect that this cigar may transition from "good" to "excellent" after spending a few months aging in my humidor.
They also included one of their new White Corojo cigars as a freebie with my order, and as a nice extra touch my receipt included a personal note of thanks from Paul Bush, who I believe is the owner of the company.
I think that they are at least fairly well-known to the BOTL, but if you haven't checked these guys out yet, here's a link to their site:

If you are interested in supporting a small, US-based cigar maker, they are definitely worth a look, IMO.
