I've had that oak log for probably 6 years. It's got character, and usually functions as a table around the bonfire. I don't know how many times I've rescued it when someone throws it on the fire... I need to cut a groove in the top so the cigars dont roll off when the wind gusts.

I like these, but the foot releases a ton of smoke. It seems like it would burn itself down like a cigarette.

Are they too dry or bad construction?

They're trying to do the drew estate style MOJO marinade on the tobacco on those. Makes it a smoke machine, but the flavor in those really puts me off. Seems like it's either a love or hate thing.
